Chapter Two || The beauty and the beasts

"Babe your phone" Miles groaned in my ear.

"I hear it" I groaned then sat up and answered it. "Hello"

"Hey sweetie did I wake you?" My mom asked.

"Yeah but it's fine" I huffed. "What's up mama bear?"

"Oh nothing just flew in from Bali" she said.

"Uh why? You have a wedding to get to" I said.

"Alyssa you're turning seventeen in a few days, there is no way I'm missing it" she said which made me smile. "Anyways I just got in I'm about to go visit Bran but after do you wanna go grab lunch?"

"Sure" I smiled.

"Bring Miles, I actually have to talk to you both" she said.

"Alright"

"Okay well I'll text you the restaurant name, till then sweetie" she said then hung up.

Clearly our relationship had improved. Slowly we were building up trust and communication and it was nice, she would call twice a day in the morning and at night and while I was in Brazil she visited more than I expected her too. She was even planning on moving back down here but life is so hectic for her in New York she's way to busy to find a house let alone move in. I didn't mind, I think distance was good because she isn't hovering but there are times when I just really need her. Even then she's still a phone call away.

"Why'd she call?" Miles asked.

"She wants to have lunch" I said. "With both of us so do you have plans?"

"Gym session with Joey and Robbie" he said. "What about you?"

"I sadly have a morning meeting" I huffed.

He chuckled then reached for my hand. "I'm so happy you're back"

I smiled. "Are you coming tonight?"

"Do you want me to?" He asked.

"I mean we both decided not to make our relationship public but Sofia is invited so I figured you could just come with me then I'll sit with you guys" I said, we were talking about the TCA's.

"I don't have to walk the carpet with you right?" He asked.

"No of course not" I chuckled. "Well just ride with Sof then well meet inside"

"Then yeah I'm down to go" he shrugged. "What about Ky's birthday dinner?"

"I mean you're expected to come" I said. "Unless you don't want to"

"No of course" he said quickly. "Look I gotta get ready and so do you so lets just shower then change and I'll pick you up at the office for lunch"

"Okay" I smiled then kissed him. Life was good.

After our shower Miles changed into his gym clothes then left while I changed into a black pencil dress and black pumps. The whole professional look was now apart of my life seeing as how my dad is making me apart of his business team. For my hair I just tied it in a messy bun that was messy by tasteful and classy. My makeup was also tasteful, and since it was a business meeting and not an event I grabbed my tri color Celine then headed out.

Since Miles was picking me up I took an Uber to my dads office, I didn't care I don't really like driving that much anyways. Especially in heels. Anyways when I got to my dads office everyone welcomed me back and security gave me my pass and I just headed up to his top floor office. I was probably late for the meeting but having my name of the building gave me the right to be at least five minutes late.
