Calamity sat up that night in her bed, her chest aching as she gasps for air. She sat in the dark for a moment before eyeing her phone and tuning on the screen, squinting as she read the time. 2:47 AM. She sighed and set the phone back down before falling back against her slightly wet pillows as she stared up at the ceiling, her eyes once again adjusting to the darkness around her as she let her eyes wander the few cracks in it before rolling onto her side and staring at the door. A low light stretched out against her bedroom floor from the hallway, her fingers touching her collar bone softly as she listened to her brother walking around the house downstairs. She hadn't ever heard him come home so she knew it must have been a late night for him but hearing him moving around the house so late was a welcomed sound. Her walk home from the library had been a long and quiet one. Her mind and heart had raced the whole walk home, her eyes always looking over her shoulder for Adrian who looked like he hadn't followed her to her knowledge. His words echoed in her mind however 'God isn't going to hear you when I'm around', and if he said he was always watching her she wasn't sure if praying would really do her any good.

She sat up and brushed her hair from her face as she slid out of her room and downstairs where she hovered in the entryway to the living room where Lance sat on the couch staring at the television, a lit-up controller in his hand and a headset covering his ears. "Derek, I need you to actually be paying attention here, this is the fifth time you have been taken out by that sniper." She smiled softly and joined him on the couch causing him to look over at her and move one side of the head set off his ear. "I didn't wake you up did I?" She shakes her head softly as she brings her knees to her chest, watching the television. She wasn't sure what shooter game he was playing but it was a welcomed distraction. She heard a muffled voice come from the speaker that was moved away from Lances' ear. "Derek said you shouldn't be up this late and I am going to agree with him for once."

"I have been having nightmares the last few days, so I really don't want to go back to bed, so tell Derek to bite me." Lance laughs gently as the voice is heard again.

"Ya no way in hell I am telling her that Derek, that's gross." He leans forward, reaching for his drink as Calamity finds herself softly flinching at his movement. He looked over at her as he grabbed the coffee mug, raising an eyebrow before taking a drink and setting it down. "The accident again?" She looked over at his face, his eyes full of concern. She gripped her legs tightly and swallowed her pride, she couldn't tell him the truth even if she knew it was the right move to be honest with him.

"Ya, it's been on loop the last few days, so it's just been hard to sleep." She wanted to ask for help, but she also knew he couldn't follow her around all the time to keep her safe and with as unpredictable as this Adrian guy was, she knew he would probably find a way to shoot her then disappear like he said he would. She believed he was capable of all the things he claimed. "Sorry if I was worrying you at all." He lets go of his controller long enough to ruffle her hair before leaning back and returning his gaze and focus to the video game once more.

"I worry about you regardless of what you do, I always have. Just because we gave each other hell growing up doesn't mean I don't care; you are my baby sister, and it has always been my job to keep you safe and secure when I can." He laughed as the voice in his headset echoed again. "Shut the hell up Derek or I will come by and show you I haven't gotten soft on anyone, just because you don't have any siblings doesn't mean you get to talk shit." She looked over at the headset for a moment before returning her attention to the television, smirking to herself as she watches him die.

"Wow you still suck just as much as you used to, Derek was right on that one." She laughs as he leans over and brings a foot up to her arm to push her over onto her side, not taking his hands off his controller.
