It had been a week since Calamity had sat down with Adrian, she had given him an old phone she had been saving in case hers broke for any reason and was starting to slowly show him how to use it. Though it was just as frustrating as trying to teach a cat how to walk on a leash, she found it hard to believe how far behind he was with the world around him. She rolled over in bed and shut her alarm off, rubbing her eyes open as she sat up in her bed. She took a second to adjust to being awake and thankfully she was starting to feel more normal than she had, she had been adjusting to everything around her finally and the nightmares had seemed to stop for now.

She was risen from her moment of serene peace as she heard her phone chime, causing her to turn to check it. She had two missed texts from Jade, both of which were related to an English project they had decided to work on together and a third from Adrian. She had used some of the money she had saved up to convince her brother Lance to turn the phone back on, she had lied and said a friend of hers at school needed a new phone but that she would be using part of her savings to pay for it. So in the end it was only partially a lie, between her savings and Lance giving her a decent allowance at the end of the week it made sense to just let him have a phone.

She slid her screen down to check it, rubbing her eyes once again only to close them out of frustration. He had a habit of wording his texts like letters so far, something she was trying to break him of. 'Calamity, I think I finally managed to figure out this whole charging of the battery thing. It has been one day since my cellular phone has died; I will pat myself on the back for this accomplishment. I believe that is the right phrase for this, I was wondering if we could travel to school together again today. I have some things I wish to discuss. -Adrian.'

Calamity slid a hand through her hair as she stared at the text, it was frustrating he couldn't just text like a normal person despite how many times she had tried to teach him how to. She could at least be thankful he got the concept rather than just giving up in its entirety. She set the phone back down and rubbed her face before forcing herself out of bed and wandering into the bathroom where she started her morning routine of brushing her teeth and hair while applying her makeup. Once she was done, she moved back into her room where she found another text from Adrian lighting up her screen, which she begrudgingly checked. 'Calamity, I am headed on foot to your house. You always take forever to rise yourself in the morning and I don't feel like wasting half my early morning hours standing outside your house and thinking about how overgrown your lawn is. -Adrian.'

She found her eyes widening before throwing on a school hoodie that she had bought at this past Fridays pep rally in preparation for the coming rainy season Lance had warned her about. She practically flew down the flight of stairs leading to the front door which only caught Lance's attention from the kitchen, though today he was in a blue tank top and grey sweats meaning he probably didn't work that day. "Calamity? You really going to school dressed like that?" She froze and turned to look at him, her hand about half outstretched to grab the doorknob as she stared at him.

"Um no, a friend said they were stopping by to walk with me to school, so I was going to meet them at the door." Lance raises an eyebrow, leaning back against the counter while bringing his coffee mug to his lips. He just stared at her while taking a drink before swallowing and smacking his lips in a matter-of-fact way.

"A friend huh? Well, I am glad you made friends so quickly." He looked at the door, a knock echoing from the other side which snapped Calamity back from staring at her older brother. She hesitated, half hoping her brother would have been gone back into the kitchen but reached out fully and opened the door. Adrian looked up from the phone in his hand. Lance quickly setting his mug down and leaning over more to see the boy standing in the doorway while Calamity silently cursed to herself.
