The rest of the walk was silent and full of tension, every time Calamity raised her eyes to try and see Adrian's face, he had it hidden behind his hair and turned slightly away from her. His body was tense and stiff as he walked, both his hands shoved deep into the pockets of his hoodie. As they walked, Calamity had managed to get a hold on her thoughts and was better processing the car incident. Well, the best she could as there was a lot there to unpack and she had her eyes closed for whatever had happened.

"Adrian...?" She flinched softly as he turned his head to look at her, his eyes had dulled some but not by much. "Can I ask you something?" He shrugs and looks away from her, focusing on the street as he slowed his pace to match her own.

"Fine, what do you want?" She reached her right arm up to grab her left bicep, the air between them was heavy and awkward so she wasn't even sure if now was a good time, but when would there be a better one?

"I know we have been working more on making you less awkward and it has been going steady, but I wanted to ask, the first day you walked me to school you had mentioned there was something that lives in Vivian." She eyes him, he still wasn't looking at her.

"Ok, and?" Calamity rubs her arm through her hoodie sleeve, looking away from him and clearing her throat.

"So, you really aren't human, are you?" He turns to look at her as they make it to the main crosswalk that would lead them to the front of the school.

"Are you really that naive, or are you just stupid?" He turns his body fully, standing in front of her and looking down at her with his back to the school building. She instinctively takes a step back from him, putting some distance between them as she looks away from his eyes. They were so suffocating, just like the first day she had seen them both in full. Since that day he had started hiding the scar behind his hair, but none of the other students and Jade especially have seemed to notice the scar. Sometimes she thought it was in her imagination, but it was still there, she could see it occasionally when he moved his head the right way.

"Neither of those, just wanting to confirm that you aren't. So, what are you? A vampire or something?" She turns her eyes back to his face, taken a back by the look of shock on it. He looked horrified before he turns his head away from her and brings a hand to his mouth. There was a muffled snort, as if he were trying his best to not erupt into laughter. He stayed like that for a moment before closing his eyes and letting out a mild chuckle into his palm, which was weirdly comforting as some of the tension melted away.

"I don't know if I should really even be laughing right now." He moved his hand away, forcing down the rest of what he wanted to let out and forcing his face to remain a blank slate. "A vampire? I think I am actually offended here." He looked down at her again, his eyes softening in their intensity. Calamity just stared at him, keeping a distance between the two and keeping her hand on her arm.

"Excuse me? What does that even mean?" She watches him wave his hand at her, clearly biting back more laughter in her direction.

"I mean they don't hold a candle to the power I have, trust me." He puts his hand back in his pocket, looking up at the sky as a few raindrops fall against his skin. "We should get inside; I don't feel like wearing wet clothes all day." He turns away from Calamity only for her to lunge out and grab his hoodie, though the action surprised both of them.

"Just tell me what you even are first, then I will drop it." She lets go of his hoodie just as quickly as she had grabbed it, bringing her hands up to pull her hood up to shield her face and makeup from the rain. She watched his eyes move down to her neck, staring at it for a moment and causing her hand to move to the gold chain peeking out from behind her shirt.
