The two were startled by the whistling of the kettle, Calamity turned her attention to the stove before blinking in confusion. He had only put it on not more than two minutes ago, and when he did the flame was low. She stood and walked over to the stove, Adrian just staring at the flame now. She reached down and checked the dial; it was definitely on the lowest setting, but the flame was sparking as if it was on the highest. She kicked it softly, ignoring the fact she kicked it without shoes, before turning off the burner.

"Stupid thing must be faulty. Leave it to my brother to buy a piece of shit." She moved the kettle off the burner, listening to the whistling slow down before Adrian finally stood and moved over to her.

"I've got it, you just go sit down." She eyed his hands as they moved around her, reaching for some tea packets on the counter before trying to reach out to his hand.

"I can make tea, why don't you relax for a second. We talked about a lot that clearly made you uncomfortable." She watched him grab the tea bags before quickly ripping his hand out of her reach, eyeing her, and narrowing them.

"I may not be human, but I can still do a gentleman's job of making a lady tea, even if she doesn't act or talk like one. Sit." She moved away from him, rubbing her hand as if he had struck her. He didn't but the rejection felt a little similar.

"Fine." She moved away from him and back to the table, sitting down as she watched him pull some mugs down from the cupboard. "So, it is clear you aren't human. You just admitted that in full for the first time, but if you aren't human does that make you a demon or something?" He set the mugs down, hesitating before ripping open the packet containing the tea bags themselves.

"No. It just means that one lives inside me. Just like my other siblings." She kept her eyes on him, watching him fill the mugs with water.

"So, like possession?" He finally looked at her, this time he was actually seeing her since they had begun this conversation.

"In a way, this is different than the things you read about or see on that television thing." He narrowed his eyes at her snickering. "What? I am trying to have an adult conversation." Calamity waves her hand softly, holding in the laughter.

"No, I'm sorry, I just am not used to seeing someone who looks so young call it a television anymore. We use TV now." He sighs and puts the tea bags into the water, covering the mugs with small plates before eyeing the clock.

"I told you I don't understand the slang now, just forget I called it a television then. Can we continue?" He turned back to her, crossing his arms, and leaning his hip against the counter as Calamity nods. "Now, as I was saying. Those are different than what happened to us, he used that awful book to bind us permanently to the demons inside us. Rituals and experimentation, I was the first, so my binding was a lot sloppier." He raised an arm, flashing the scar on his wrist. Calamity gave a quiet nod, letting him continue.

"He used the book to make us each into a vessel for our demons, like a hiding hole for them in a way." He eyes the clock again before letting them wander to the mugs beside him. Calamity stood and walked over, laying a gentle hand on his bicep which only made him jump.

"You can stop, I can see you don't want to keep going so you can stop. I understand a little better now." He moved away from her touch, causing her to lower her hand. "I just have one more question."

"Fine, then I feel like I should have some of mine answered." She nods in agreement, moving away from him before pulling herself onto the counter on the other side of the kitchen where she took a seat.
