Annabeth POV:
Annabeth peered around the corner at Chiron as the bus pulled away. It was a good idea to send the older, more experienced campers to an actual summer camp. It would allow them to practice vital blending-in skills. A demon monster seen at summer camp should be easier to write off as an overactive imagination than one eating hotdogs on your roof in the middle of the suburbs.
Annabeth looked over at her boyfriend, Percy, who was currently trying to balance a plastic spoon on the end of his nose. She couldn't help but laugh at that. Seaweed Brain. Annabeth's mind wandered to the brochure she had tucked in her backpack. The brochure! She reached down into her backpack and pulled out the colorful piece of folded paper.
Piper asked her, "What are you... OH! The brochure! Cool!"
She turned her attention to Rachel and mouthed, "Do you want to see the brochure?"
Rachel mouthed back, already saw it and continued sketching in her notebook.
Annabeth unfolded the brochure and began to read. The longer she looked at it, the better this idea seemed. The camp taught them how to make watertight structures, navigate using the skies, live off of nature and work as a team with their assigned groups. All of these things would help demigods on a quest. There was even time set aside to learn or do things recommended by the counselors or campers.
Annabeth found herself wondering what her group would be like and if her counselors would be nice. Maybe someone she knew from school would be there.
Magnus POV:
Magnus stared at the bright yellow bus Odin had told them to get on.
Yellow. Why did it have to be so... eye-scorching? He climbed on, followed by Alex. She was looking a bit more drab than usual, since the camp regulations asked for khakis or other hiking pants, and they weren't usually made in pink and green.
She was making up for it with a pink and green sweater that had trees all over it, and would not be out of place in a neon marker bin.
The seats were nice, at least. It was a packed bus, but one glare from Alex kept a sixth-grader from sliding onto the seat after them. Odin was always sort of weird, not like Magnus would say that out loud, but this was one of his few very weird ideas that might work out.
He and Alex were being sent to check out a campground that Odin thought might be a good quest prep for beginner Enerji. The camp seemed like it would be fun, and a good change of pace from Valhalla. Dying all the time was not very fun, and the various battle injuries his friends got were a constant source of worry for him. They could have traveled through the world tree, but Odin was insistent that we go on the bus. Probably because he didn't want any squirrel attacks happening on his watch. Magnus wondered what his cousin Annabeth was doing at her summer camp.
Sadie
Sadie rather liked the old bus. Sure, it was old and musty. Sure, it was a weird yellow color. So what? It was their ticket out of Manhattan and into the forests of the national park, to Camp Wildheart.
It definitely had a cheesy name, but hopefully, that meant that they'd actually get to do something fun instead of even cheesier games and crafts... Sadie opened the brochure and grimaced.
There was a craft buffer, but they also get to choose what to do sometimes.
Great, as long as her group wasn't filled with boringheads like Carter who would suggest a research party instead of ziplining or something cool.
Carter was shifting nervously in his seat. He overpacked on everything that's actually necessary. And books. Sadie, for one, was definitely ready to have actual fun on this trip.
She didn't know why Bast had that idea, but Sadie was so glad she did.
Sometimes leading the nome was really hard on her brother, and if the camp was really good, they could use it as nature practice. Some of the most recent recruits really needed it too.
They'd never even camped before, but then again, neither had Sadie. She hoped they got a really cool counselor, instead of somebody who would make them go on boring hikes.
Hey galactlings! I was wondering how I should post these chapters. They vary in length by a lot, so I may combine them, but I was wondering if you thought this was a good length.
Also, should I post more stories? I have a bunch of them just waiting in my drive.
Galaxy, OUT!
