LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT

Chapter 7

Louis eventually came back with more food and his backpack. We ate and talked. This was the norm. Our parents were always out of town so it's pretty much just me and Louis since he turned 18. He's pretty much been my legal guardian since then. He's only a year older than me so it didn't last long. When I turned 18, I told him he didn't have to worry about me anymore if it had to do with doctors and hospitals, I told him I could take care of myself, but he insisted on being there for me. He's always been over protective of me.

I was texting Liam, it was past 10 pm now. Louis passed out after doing some homework. I told Liam he should go to sleep and he agreed saying that he was sorry for keeping me from resting. I told him that it was fine and we said goodnight. After that I was left alone surrounded by beeping machines and a small TV that didn't have many channels to choose from. I hated hospitals and I know, for a fact, that it was going to take a while for me to be able to fall asleep.

Eventually I did fall into a dreamless, restless sleep. Just as I felt like I was barely shutting my eyes and going to sleep I was woken up by Louis' alarm clock. It was 6 am. Louis wasn't waking up so I took my pillow and threw it at his sleeping body, which looked dead and uncomfortable on the small hospital couch.

He groaned and jolted up, "What!? What's happening?" He snapped and woke up a bit.

"Turn off your dumb alarm and get yourself together to go to school" I told him.

"Ok! Ok! I'm up!" He yelled.

"Shhh Shut up there are other people sleeping still." I whispered.

He just ignored me and fixed himself up in the bathroom that was attached to the hospital room. He came out 10 minutes later looking wide awake and ready.

"Alright I have practice today after school but if you get released around lunch, call me and I'll come pick you up and drop you home ok?" He reassured me.

"Ok! Now leave, I want to go back to sleep." I told him laying down deeper into the uncomfortable hospital bed covers.

"Alright! Bye! I'm leaving. Love you Sis." He said as he walked out.

"Love you too loser!" I quietly shouted. Then I heard him chuckle.

I was able to go back to sleep for another hour and a half and then was woken up by a nurse who came in and checked my vitals and everything. She informed me that I wouldn't be released till after 2 or 3 o'clock and I knew I was screwed. I would have to wait an hour or more for Louis to get out of practice and be able to pick me up. I guess I didn't have any other option.

I checked my phone when she left and saw that I had 3 messages, one from my mom asking if everything was ok. I rolled my eyes. I love my mom but she can be a bit careless sometimes. I replied to her telling her I was fine and not to worry.

The second one I saw was from Lei telling me she would get my homework from today and the classes I missed yesterday. I texted her thanks and told her she was the bestest bestfriend ever.

The last text was a bit surprising. It was Liam he had texted me right before class.

Liam ;): Good morning Cupcake. Try not to plan an escape from the hospital until you get released. I'll see you later. Hope this text didn't wake you up. I know being in a hospital sucks, but I hope you have a good day :)

I smiled at the text. It was like he knew me so well already.

Sofia: Morning Li. I'm not making any promises. I hate this place. Since you sent this 30 minutes ago and I just woke up, no you didn't wake me, and thanks I hope you have a good day at school. See ya later :)

He didn't reply right away since he was in class but throughout the day we would send each other messages talking about random things.

As lunch came around, I called Louis to tell him I was being released around 2 to 3.

When he picked up I heard he was in a loud place. I assumed he was in the cafeteria. "Hey sis you're on speaker. I'm with Lei."

"Liam's here too!" I heard Lei scream.

"Yeah Lei dragged the poor lad to sit with us." Louis said.

I smiled. That's Lei, she's great at making friends. "Hey guys." I said with excitement in my voice. I need other human interactions that aren't nurses and doctors. "So, Louis, they told me I was getting released around 2 or 3. Is there anyways you could skip practice and come pick me up when you get out of school. I really don't want to be here." I said with a small whine in my voice.

"Sorry sis I can't miss this practice or Coach will bench me. You are just gonna have to wait till after 4:30." He said with sorrow in his voice.

Just then I heard a slightly deeper voice say, "I could pick you up Cupcake." Liam said.

I didn't have time to think about a reply before Louis said, "Nope she's not riding on your motorcycle mate. I don't trust you yet. She can just wait for me."

I was going to reply but was interrupted again, "No don't worry I wasn't going to take my bike mate." Liam's voice called out, "I was going to drop my bike at home and take my car instead, I wouldn't think of putting her in danger."

I smiled and quickly responded before Louis could intervene, "Oh Louis please let him pick me up, I really don't want to be here longer than needed." I said with a little beg in my voice.

I could hear his sigh of surrender, "Ok, Fine. But he's taking you straight home and nowhere else." He said to me then directed his speech toward Liam, "But if I find out she was on your bike Payne you won't live to see the next day." He threatened.

"Don't worry mate I promise." Liam said.

"Thanks Liam," I said with a smile on my face.

"No Problem Cupcake." I heard him say.

"Well now that that's settled," Lei started, "Should I just give Liam your homework at the end of the say since you will probably see him before me or Louis?" Lei asked.

"Yeah I can pick it up for her if you want Leila." Liam offered, "Just give me a list of her teachers and I can go pick up the rest right now." He said.

"No Liam you don't have to. You've already done enough. It's ok, Lei can..." I started.

"It's not a problem Cupcake, I can manage. Don't worry about it." He interrupted me.

I didn't have time to argue because Lei interrupted me, "Alright it's settled Sofi I'll come around to your house later tonight to help you with your homework and other stuff if you need ok?"

I grunted in return. I felt like a child when people made decisions for me, but I gave in. "Alright well I'll see you all later I guess." I said with a sigh.

"Ok so I'll text you when I get to the hospital cupcake alright?" Liam said.

I smiled for some odd reason. "Ok thanks again."

"You need to stop thanking me babe it's fine." The nickname caught me off guard. I don't think anyone else noticed because I just heard Louis and Lei conversing with someone about something that happened in class. So I decided to ignore it and not make a big deal about it.

"Alright, I'll see you later. Enjoy the rest of your day." I said.

"Alright talk to you soon." Liam said as I heard shuffling on the phone.

"Alright sis I'll see you later at home. Bye love you." Louis said, along with a quick bye from Lei.

I hung up and then continued to watch TV for the rest of my time here till a nurse came up to get me discharged. I just wanted to get out of here and SOON!!.
