Chapter 48

"You know, for a last-minute surprise, you had everything prepared quite fast" Kiki's voice came from the left of the DJ booth where M was making sure the music was playing. They were manning the booth in turns, so everyone could have fun around the small party.

"Whoever said it was last minute?" M giggled and winked at the shocked bride, her grin growing as realization hit Kiki.

"But...how? When?!" Kiki had to stop herself from shaking her friend until the truth was spilled, every last detail to be known by her.

"Well, remember when you called me Monday night, crying about the phone call you just got, and how you needed help getting drunk and calling every guest about the wedding?" M shrugged, like that would make even a bit of sense in Kiki's brain, sighing as it seemed like her tall friend could not connect the dots to the story.

"We did just that. Got drunk, called people, you cried, you vented about the wedding, I listened..." M trailed off, looking at Kiki as the hints and details she was dropping finally got connected.

"I called my uncle, asked him about this place, and got some help with the other stuff" M continued talking, sometimes looking over at the playlist to make sure it was not stuck on repeat.

"Uncle, what uncle?" Kiki asked, not remembering any relatives of Marie's being there at the resort. All she got as an answer was a snort from her short friend before she was pointed to the old man who owned the resort, the same old man from the small beach they visited yearly. "He's your uncle?!"

"Thrice removed, or something like that, but as he is a close family friend and a retired pastor, I asked for his help. I only planted a few ideas here, I asked for help there, and voila, the perfect small wedding you dreamed of" Marie answered, smiling as she looked at Kiki, and the bride could do nothing but want to cry and hug her friend.

"Who else was in on this? Did Jin know? I swear if he hid this from me...." Kiki started, looking after her husband, wanting to interrogate him about why he let her cry this entire week if this was supposed to happen.

"Woah, don't kill your husband just yet. You just got married, woman" M laughed, patting Kiki's back. "He knew nothing, and your families found out just today. The rest of the group though, well they knew, that is why they came to the resort only today. Look, if everything went to plan, this was the result, if not, then it would be just a small gathering to celebrate you two and try to cheer you both up" she continued, reaching for her own glass of whiskey, raising it in a toast as Jin just ran past the DJ booth with Kookie and Felix hot on his feet, screaming about traditions needing to be followed.

"Jin knew nothing, but he was the key to either this being a wedding or just a small party," M said, her eyes following the groom with a small shake of her head when the guys caught him. "He knew you best and would know if this would make you happier, or just bring you back all the pain from everything going bad for you. I knew it would make you the happiest, but you two would become family sooner or later, so that means I have to treat you both as one. Plus, it was a test to see if I shave his head after this night or not. He passed."

Kiki could only look in shock at her best friend, wanting to hug her and choke her at the same time for everything she said, thinking it was such a Slytherin move to pull. In the end, she did neither, rolling her eyes at her friend before going to save her husband from getting stripped by his friends, promising in her head to get back at M and make sure she catches that bridal bouquet at the church ceremony.

Just as Kiki departed from the DJ booth, a red-haired woman approached it, grinning as she was holding a glass of wine.

"DJ, turn up the volume on this song and come dance with us" Lexy shouted, waving Marie over. Getting a 'no' from M made Lexy go to the booth and push her friend away on the sandy stage. "Go on, you have been doing chores all around the wedding and party today, to make sure everything is ok. Trust us, and just go have fun, woman" Lexy said, working on the playlist to add some more group dances, rather than the romantic songs the preset list was playing.
