Ext. Balcony on Emerald Palace Tower-Late Morning
GLINDA
(stepping onto balcony)
Fellow Ozians. As I'm sure you're all aware, the Wizard is long gone. But we have found a new leader for you. If you all remember the story of Elphaba, or as you call her, the wicked witch, you will know that she's the Wizard's daughter, and therefore, directly in line for the Ozian throne. Today, we will be officially declaring her as the Crown Princess of Oz.
(ELPHABA steps onto the balcony. GLINDA gets the tiara from IDINA, and places it on ELPHABA'S head)
GLINDA
Fellow Ozians, behold Crown Princess Elphaba!
(the Ozians cheer. ELPHABA looked amazed)
ELPHABA
I... I have a few announcements to make.
(the crowd goes silent)
First, I'd like to name Glinda Upland as the new Governor of Munchkinland.
(GLINDA squeals and rushes to the front of the balcony with Elphaba)
Next, I'd like to name Idina Menzel as my top advisor and the second in command of my council.
(IDINA jumps back in shock, then slowly moves forward to join ELPHABA and GLINDA at the front of the balcony)
And I'd like to name Fiyero Tigelaar as the new Captain of the Guard.
(FIYERO joins ELPHABA, IDINA, and GLINDA at the front of the balcony)
And while we're at it, I'm also lifting all anti Animal bans and laws. Animals will once again be considered full members of society. Now I... um... have some things to do.
(turns and heads back inside, followed by IDINA and GLINDA)
IDINA
You did it!
(hugs ELPHABA. She tenses)
Sorry.
ELPHABA
No, it's fine. I'm just not used to it. Except from Glinda.
GLINDA
It's true. I am the queen of no personal space.
(they all laugh)
ELPHABA
I can't believe after all this time fighting for everything I believed in, now I can make it all a reality.
