A/N: Hello, my loves. This will be my first attempt at an xreader one-shot/writing in general, so we'll see how it goes. Thank you to hbclovebot for the wonderful idea. Much love to you all, and please don't hesitate to leave requests in the introduction! <3
Y/N: your name
Background: You and Helena met on the set of Ocean's 8 and have been inseparable ever since. She starts acting strangely, and you decide to confront her about it.

"Hey, Hellie," you chirped into the phone. You were scrambling around your house frantically grabbing all of your things to take with you to set. "I promise I'm just about on my way. I just have to grab my keys and then I'll be-"
"Actually, Y/N, Sandy's picking me up today," Helena interrupted, her voice shaking a little. You were slightly taken aback by this as you'd driven to set together since you met on the first day of filming in October, almost six months ago. You two had become instant best friends when you met, your hectic personalities and sarcastic sense of humor meshing perfectly. The rest of the cast as well as the crew had resorted to calling you "work wives" because you spent so much time together and were often found napping in the most random places during your breaks between takes.
"Oh, um alright. Is everything okay?" you asked. Your heart had sunk to your stomach at the thought that you had done something wrong or upset her in some way. Not only was Helena your best friend, but you had a massive crush on her. You would never tell her that, of course, because you were positive she was straight, but it was still there.
"I- yeah. Everything's fine; Sandy offered since she's in the area, and I um took her up on it," she explained. She was rushing and stumbling over her words, but you decided against pushing it any further.
"That's great. I'll uh see you on set, I guess."
"Of course. See you," Helena replied before hanging up the phone. You stared at the phone still not believing her story of Sandra being in the area. She lived all the way across town and was only ever in the area when Helena hosted gatherings at her home. Shrugging it off, you grabbed your keys and headed out the door. You ran the past week over and over in your head trying to figure out what you had done, but you came up empty-handed. It did seem like she had started distancing herself earlier in the week, but for the life of you, you couldn't figure out why. You pulled into your parking spot and walked to your trailer, throwing your stuff down and plopping into the seat at your desk.
"What's got you so moody," a voice asked, its thick Aussie accent immediately recognizable.
"Jesus Christ, Cate! You scared me half to death," you exclaimed, clutching at your chest and turning to look at her. She was sat on the edge of your bed with an almost Cheshire grin.
"Sorry, princess, but you didn't answer my question."
"It's nothing. I'm probably just overreacting," you said with a shrug. You began searching through your stuff for your script, tears burning in your eyes, but you refused to let them fall. You jumped as you felt a hand on your shoulder, and Cate spun you around to face her. She gave you a knowing look and pulled you into a hug.
"It's not nothing if it affects you so much, Y/N. What's going on?" she asked. You buried yourself against her and sighed heavily.
"It's Hellie. She's been acting weird lately, and I don't know what I did. She even rode to work with Sandy today; we always come to work together." You looked up at Cate as she pulled away.
"I'm sure she's just stressed about filming being almost over. Maybe you should go talk to her at her place after we're done for the day," she suggested. You nodded, pulling away completely and collecting the rest of your stuff to head to the makeup and costume trailers. Helena tried her best to avoid you the rest of the day, and it didn't help your mood whatsoever. A few of the other girl's noticed as well, like Sandra, and asked if you were alright. She had wrapped you up in her arms and pressed a kiss to your temple.
"You gotta talk to her, Y/N," Sandra whispered.
"Did she say something to you?" you asked, eyes wide with concern.
"No, sweetheart, but I can tell you two need to have a conversation." You nodded and walked back to the director who called you for your scene. A few hours later, you returned to your trailer, collected your stuff, and headed back to your car. You had noticed the lights off in Hellie's trailer and Sandy's car was gone, so you assumed they'd gone home as well. You drove home with your music blaring and windows down. When you got home, you jumped in the shower and changed before eating something from the fridge. After eating, you grabbed your keys and phone and got in the car. You had decided against notifying Helena of your visit because you knew she would just make excuses about why you shouldn't come. You parked your car on the street in front of her house and got out, keys jingling as your hands shook. You walked up to the front door and knocked.
"Y/N? What are um- what are you doing here?" she asked, crossing her arms over her chest.
"We need to talk, Hellie," you sighed. You dropped your gaze to your feet as you shifted from one to the other.
"Now really isn't a goo-" You cut her off, looking up at her with tears begging to slip down your cheeks.
"Helena... please," you whimpered. She sighed and ran her fingers through her hair. Helena moved to the side to allow you inside, closed the door, and followed you to the living room. She sat on the couch, close enough to seem friendly, but farther away than she used to. She played with her fingers nervously.
"What did you want to talk about, Y/N?" You sighed and wrapped your arms around your torso.
"You've been avoiding me, Hellie. Why?"
"I- I don't know what you're talking about," she stuttered. You could tell she was lying, you always could. The fact that she even tried to lie to you hurt more.
"Don't you dare lie to me, Helena. You know I can't stand it when people lie to me. Please just tell me what I did so I can fix it," you pleaded. A tear rolled down your cheek, and the brunette leaned forward to wipe it away.
"Oh, Y/N, no. You didn't do anything. It's... it's me."
"What do you mean it's you?" you asked. "What's going on?"
"I- Damnit... You have to promise me you won't leave me if I tell you this," she whispered. You scooted closer to her, taking both of her hands in your own.
"I swear to you, Hellie, I'm not going anywhere." You watched as her shoulders deflated, and her eyes filled with tears.
"I have feelings for you, Y/N. I have for a really long time, and I thought if maybe I just avoided you they would go away, but they only got stronger, and I can't take it anymore. I need you, Y/N. I need us," Helena rambled, her voice deep with emotion. You released her hands and gently held her face instead. You leaned in slowly, giving her time to back out if she wished to, but she didn't; instead, she surprised you and met you halfway, locking your lips in a gentle but passionate embrace.
"I like you too, Hellie. A lot," you murmured against her lips. She drew away to look you in the eye.
"Really?" You nodded in reply. She gave you the most beautiful smile you had ever seen and pulled you into her side. You snuggled up against her, soaking in the warmth and safety you felt in her presence. She gently dragged her knuckles up and down your spine as she kissed the top of your head. "Do you want to stay the night, love?"
"I'd love to," you said. "Can we watch a movie?" You heard her chuckle lightly.
"Of course we can. What do you want to watch?" she asked.
"Anything works." Your response was muffled, however, as your face was buried in the crook of her neck.
"What was that?" she laughed. You lifted your head up with a groan and pecked her cheek before answering again.
"I said anything is fine."
You both spent the rest of the night curled up on her living room sofa, enjoying each other with no secrets or hidden feelings for the first time since you met all those months ago. You shared sweet kisses and lots of giggles as you cherished every moment with your newfound love.
