Humdinger Strikes Again (Second Part of K9 Chase)

Chapter 9: The Final Mission

Skye's POV

While everyone else had more indirect targets in the liberation of Adventure Bay, Everest and I had one specific target, and a big one at that. The Humdinger Robotics factory.

The building had seemed completely empty when we had entered it at first, but we had no idea that it was a trap at the time. We decided to explore the building, and found a mysterious door which led to a staircase that went far down. Determined, we took the trip down, finding our old vehicles! Then, to our horror, we spotted a prison cell further down the hall we were in. We immediately ran to it.

In the prison cell was none other than the old Mayor Goodway. Everest screamed out and Mayor Goodway turned around. When she saw us, she did nothing but put her index finger over her mouth. She had scars and bruises all over her face.

"Goodway, what was that?" Came a male voice from behind.

There was nowhere to hide.

When he spotted us, we all stood still for a brief moment, almost like a Mexican standoff, only this time, Humdinger had weapons, while we were unarmed. What followed can only be described as chaos. Goodway yelled out for us to run, right before Humdinger put a bullet in her head. And oh, boy, did we run.

We ran up the stairs, through the building, radioing  the rest of the PAW Patrol at the same time, asking for help. We got so close to the exit that we could almost lick the doors. But just then, a squadron of guards burst through the doors, ready with tasers and handcuffs. Just before we got electrocuted with a force of 50,000 volts, I told Everest that I loved her, and that she had been an amazing friend. Then everything blacked out.

Chase's POV

About a million different things were going on in my head as I learned about the precarious situation that Skye and Everest were in. To be honest, about 99% of those thoughts were about Skye. I knew that I needed to do everything I could to save her. But when I asked Ryder if I could follow them and help save Skye and Everest, he refused.

"There is no way that I will let you, who is both injured and just donated blood, follow us to what is probably the most dangerous part of the city," said Ryder. "You're going to go back to the bus with Rubble, and stay there until we come back, OK?

"Ok..." I begrudgingly said.

And so it was, Ryder forced us back to the bus, while they made the trek to the robotics factory, promising to send us information every ten minutes. I was so disappointed, and I felt really guilty that I was not able to help. After a while of sitting in the bus and worrying, I decided to go help. Rubble had woken up and was stable, and I knew his condition would not change. He even told me to go help.

Since I was basically a cripple at this point, it took forever to get to the robotics factory. And while I was doing this, some real sh*t was going down.

Ryder's POV

When we first arrived at the factory, everything looked normal. Too normal. I therefore told our group, which now also included Zuma, Princess, and none other than Cap'n Turbot, to stay close together at all times. We roamed around the factory, not finding anything of interest, all until we found a door which led to a basement. The basement also turned out to be empty, until we found a hall, which looked like it led to another door upstairs. In this hall, we found a prison cell.

There Mayor Goodway lied, in a pool of her own blood, dead as a doornail. Poor thing. We were all shocked, of course. We did not get any time to mourn, though, as immediately after, we heard a voice - Humdinger's voice, say: "Stay right where you are." He was pointing a machine gun, straight at me, with two guards next to him, each pointing guns at Skye and Everest respectively.
