Humdinger Strikes Again (Second Part of K9 Chase)

Chapter 3: Imposter

Third Person POV

The pups were very bored. Nothing interesting had happened after they had arrived in Merton. Merton had its own fire department, police department, coast guard, hospital, air rescue, and various other services, so the only thing the pups did was play in the backyard and binge watch Animal Planet. Ryder, though, had some good news.

"Pups! I have some great news!" Ryder said.

"What is it, sir?" Chase asked.

"Katie is coming tomorrow!" Ryder exclaimed.

"Yeah that is some GREAT news! Are you guys going out yet?" Marshall teased.

"Oh shut up Marshall," Ryder chuckled.

Marshall laughed.

"At least someone's spirit is up," Ryder said. "Even Skye is feeling low and she's the freaking flying pup!"

"Yeah, I'm kind of worried about her. She has only gotten out of her room to eat the last few days," Chase said.

"Of course you're worried," Marshall smirked.

"Yeah, and I haven't seen YOU bring EVEREST food!" Chase raised his voice.

"Guys, stop arguing, you're best friends, remember," Ryder said. "And you might wake up the other pups."

That was true, you could hear conversations through the walls. Chase had heard Miracle confess that she liked Rubble. He had decided not to tell Rubble though, because that would be mean, and he was the pup leader of the PAW Patrol, after all.

"Fine," Marshall and Chase said in unison.

"Jinx!" Marshall said

Chase shook his head and chuckled. "Good old Marshall," he then hugged him.

"You guys should try to sleep," Ryder said.

"Ok, Ryder sir," Chase said and laid down on his pup bed.

"Goodnight Ryder," Marshall mumbled as he did the same.

"Goodnight Pups," Ryder whispered, as he petted then before going to his room and going to sleep himself.

THE NEXT DAY

Katie came at 11:00 am. Ryder and the pups heard a knock on the door. Ryder hurried to the door.

"True love," Chase whispered and the pups snickered. At least they had left their rooms today. Progress amirite?

"Hello Ryder!" She said with a smile. "Hello pups..." She said and sent a cold stare to Chase.

"Uhhh... Hi?" Chase said, confused.

There was an awkward silence.

"Wh... Where's Cali?" Rubble stuttered.

"Oh, umm, she... she has a babysitter!"

"But aren't you usually the babysitter for pets?" Tundra questioned.

"Yeah exactly!" Rocky said and blushed.

"Come on guys, let's not be rude!" Ryder said. "Come Chase, let's give her a tour of the house!"

"Ok..." Chase said.

So they did just that. Katie wanted to see the garage for some reason, so they went to the garage.

Then Katie struck. She swung her arm around and smashed into Chase with her arm. A loud crack erupted on impact. He yelped and slid away on the concrete floor, unconscious.

"KATIE WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!!" Ryder yelled.

"Lord Humdinger's orders. You must die before he can take over the world," Katie said.

Ryder flipped to dodge her arm. He then kicked her leg, trying to trip her over, only to realize that it was made out of steel. How hadn't he noticed that yet? Katie lost her balance and fell down on the concrete, crashing so hard into it that she malfunctioned. Her eyes rolled up and she mumbled a bunch of nonsense.

Ryder couldn't believe what he was doing but he got an axe that was hanging on the wall and cut her robot head off.

"Oh god..." Ryder whispered to himself. But he had priorities. He ran over to Chase who had a big gash on his shoulder. Thank goodness he wasn't hit in the head!, he thought.

"MARSHALL, MIRACLE, COME!!! CHASE HAS BEEN INJURED!!!" He shouted. And in came Miracle and Marshall.

They immediately set to work bandaging his wound and made sure he didn't have an infection. They decided that Chase would need to go to the veterinary clinic to get an x-ray.

The other pups also ran in, with Skye being first.

"What happened?!" Skye shouted.

"Katie... she... she was a robot I think..." Ryder said, speechless.

He walked over to Katie and found a sign inside of her. It said: KatieBot 3000. Property of Humdinger Robotics Inc.

"So this was Humdinger's work?! Then Where's Katie?!" Ryder said in a panic.

"Oh no..." The pups said. They had to find her. But first go to the veterinary clinic...
