Humdinger Strikes Again (Second Part of K9 Chase)

Chapter 8: The Liberation of Adventure Bay

A/N: Hey Everyone! Sorry for my little hiatus. I've been caught up in work and it has taken a long time to come up with ideas and write this chapter. It is also the longest chapter I've ever written, as far as I'm aware, so that has made it take longer than usual to read. I still intend to finish this story, so don't worry about that. In fact, I want to finish this story by the middle of July, and there is only one chapter left, along with the epilogue, so I have plenty of time to do that. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this chapter, and I'll see you in a while!

Marshall's POV

So finally it was time. Finally we were going home. After a couple of days of planning, we were finally ready to go liberate Adventure Bay and reclaim our true home. We were all incredibly nervous as we got into our rented school bus and said goodbye to our house in Merton. But we were also very excited to be going home after everything that we had been through.

Me and Everest held paws all the way there. Eventually, she fell asleep on my shoulder, and I have to say, I enjoyed every moment of it. No one made fun of us either, that was how tense everyone was. During the time in Merton, me and Everest had grown really fond of each other, and I knew that now was the time to express my true feelings for her. But I couldn't just do it on the bus, in front of everyone. That would embarrass her, which was the last thing I wanted to do. So it would need to be somewhere private.

After what felt like years, we arrived in a forest outside of Adventure Bay, only pine trees as far as the eyes could see, except for the massive watchtower in the distance, but y'know, that's pretty normal, right?

We all gathered together to go over the plan. Speaking of that, here it is...

Princess and Zuma were going to go along the border of Adventure Bay to the ocean, where they would head to Adventure Beach and take over the area where the lookout used to be. Everest and Skye would Sneak in south of Adventure Bay, heading for the Humdinger Robotics factory. Rocky and Tundra would cause a distraction at the only official entrance of Adventure Bay, which was further down the road. Rubble and Miracle would come in from the North, taking over the train station, and me, Ryder, and Katie would sneak into the city center, where city hall was, while Rocky and Tundra were making the distraction. Chase would stay back in the school bus due to his injuries, listening into our radio conversations, and checking in on us now and again.

And so it began... Everyone split off, and Ryder, Katie, and I trailed Rocky and Tundra, who walked in the middle of the road. We snuck through the shrubbery on the side of the road as quietly as we could. Eventually we got to the watchtower, which was next to the gate into the city. Humdinger had ordered a 7 meter tall wall to be built around the entire city while we were gone. What a mess. 

This is where the distraction began. Rocky and Miracle walked up to the gate with their hands up. The guards looked very confused.

"Please!" Started Rocky. "Let me and Tundra into Adventure Bay! Ryder is insane and we have finally realized Lord Humdinger is our... Uh... Lord! We can be his servants and we will not cause any harm! We are great at work and can be very useful!"

"No, you stupid mutt. We don't need any dogs in here? What are they good for? Cats are all we need! And we don't need anymore servants either, because everyone is a servant of Lord Humdinger!" Said one of the guards, who had a megaphone.

A/N: Quick note, I just want to say that cats and dogs are just as good as each other. They are both great pets in different ways, and I don't want to provoke anyone. This is just a plot device.

The whole plan revolved around the guards opening the gate and getting distracted so that we could sneak in, so this was a major set back.

"Err... Don't you need someone to groom the cats if everyone is a servant of Humdinger, now that Katie's gone?" Tundra said desperately.
