Chapter 2

Jennie didn't mind walking to school all that much. She'd always felt neutral about it and just reason to herself that it was the best option she could take since being an inconvenience is not exactly what she wanted to be.

But now knowing that the blonde who has swept her off her feet walked along this neighborhood and is close to her home, she was in joy and couldn't help doing a little dance to cheer herself. Ever since then, Jennie's morning walk would contain happy clouds shining all around her and smiles till her face ached.

Caught in sight, the brunette quickly sprinted towards the beauty she praises in her mind. "Hey beautiful. Whatcha doin?" She greets, as per usual with her flirtation present.

Chaeyoung, who was rather expecting Jennie to pop out any minute, greeted the blonde with a curt nod. While replying, she feigned ignorance at the name Jennie just called her,

"Walking to school." She says in monotone.

The brunette was used to it and it didn't bother in the slightest bit. She, instead, smiled in satisfaction and matched the blonde's steps.

"I see, good to know." Came Jennie's soft giddy reply.

The taller looked over and eyed the girl curiously, she was figuring out what the brunette was scheming at this time of day.

"You want to take a picture?" Jennie suddenly turns to Chaeyoung, a smirk protruding on her face.

Taken back, the blonde was caught red handed. "H-huh? What do you mean?" She rubs her nape to hide away her embarrassment.

Sadly for her, Jennie already knew she was looking directly at her. "Weren't you staring at me just now? You want me to take a picture, so it'll last longer hmm?" Jennie stood closer, their shoulders bumping one another.

Chaeyoung bit her lip. "I don't know what you're talking about."

Jennie snorted. "What a liar. You were clearly looking at me!"

"No, I wasn't."

"Ya were tho."

"I was not."

"No, I'm pretty sure you were."

"Jennie..."

"Chaeyoung..."

The blonde sighs in defeat. She could never beat Jennie in an argument, especially in conversations like this. Her brain wouldn't be able to keep up with her smartass comebacks. Losing would be the only option.

She raises her hands mid air, and announces her defeat in the most insipid voice. "Okay you win."

Hearing a laugh come out of the brunette, Chaeyoung glances at her.

Jennie beams right back, lightly brushing her head on Chaeyoung's shoulder. "I know, I always do."

The blonde dismissed the way her heart leaped when she saw Jennie's bright smile and replied dully,

"Whatever."

The brunette titters in delight knowing Chaeyoung always gave her the win. The blonde might not be trying to argue with her, but it doesn't fail to make her day.

To Jennie, Chaeyoung only consists of her days. No matter what it is, she smiles whenever she's with her and falls in love all over again. It's a cycle she'll never get tired of.

A life she’s grateful for, because Chaeyoung and her is living the same time line, same world, and same parallel universe. The brunette faintly grins at the thought,

"Hey chaeng."

"What?"

Jennie purses her lips, itching a tad bit closer.

"I love you."

Was what she wanted to say but stopped herself before she could slip out and ruin everything. Though, she wants to ruin it badly. The two of them aren't even labeled as friends. And Jennie hopes it stays that way. She has romantic feelings for the girl and she wants her to know that from the bottom of her heart.

If only confessing is easy, Jennie would've done it in a heartbeat.

So, instead of pouring her feelings out. Jennie decided to mask her pain with a smile.

"Nothing, I just think you look adorable just like always."

Replying like she hadn't just said a trivial thing, Jennie ignores the silence that came after. She was not aware of what it had caused the other girl being complimented in broad daylight so bluntly like that.

Realizing that Chaeyoung hadn't said a word since her reply, Jennie soon panics. She quickly turns and a flash of blonde streaks was all she saw before there's nothing left.

"Chaeyoung—"

In seconds, the taller dashes to the entrance of the school, leaving Jennie in complete distraught. The brunette stands just near the gate, students piling beside her as her vision zooms in on Chaeyoung running away from her. The back of the blonde disappearing from the pool of students walking about to their classes was all she saw.

What just happened?

Had she said something wrong?

Wait...

Didn't she—

"Shit." Jennie puffed under her breath. Her stupid self had blurted out something so embarrassing and she dead ass didn't even notice it coming straight out of her mouth.

Ugh stupid Jennie!

"So that's how it went?" The trio, Jennie, Jisoo, and Lisa sat together at the lunch table. It was unusual for the brunette to be here, but after what happened this morning she couldn't bring herself to face the beautiful blonde.

"Yeah..." Jennie heaved, regret pulling up at her face. The last thing she wanted was to be awkward with the blonde. It's unfortunate enough that Chaeyoung doesn't notice her feelings, and now she can't even talk to her and it is greatly eating her up.

The couple stared at the downhearted shorter. They weren't sure of what to call this because Jennie rarely gets in a state like this, and it is usually because her dogs had ignored her that it causes her to get upset but that's beside the point here. The Jennie Kim is looking like a depressed puppy that got rejected by her owner. And to be quite honest, the two wanted to take a picture and tease her for it later. Cause who wouldn't? The brunette looks so precious!

Jisoo was right when she had said this to Lisa when they saw Jennie blushing at Chaeyoung accidentally gazing at her during class: Jennie can really make a girl cross the boundary line, a straight girl in fact, and man are you lucky to be the one she favors.

Though, the one responsible for the state Jennie is in is not at this table but is in the classroom waiting for a certain brunette who would ask her to eat lunch. Except this time she's the one looking forward to it.

But I was mistaken to fear that, because you'd always look for me in the sea of people gathering around us.
