Chapter 8

"Yah, Ji, have you seen that cat?" Lisa blurted out. She was awfully distressed by the lack of brightness surrounding the classroom. Usually, there would be Jennie screaming on the top of her lungs greeting the gloomy taller by the door, or in some situations would greet the whole class by slamming the door heavily with Chaeyoung beside her looking the same every time when she's with the brunette, irritated but had somewhat accepted the fact that she's with the energetic yet lovable cat.

However, today was a bit different. Jennie was nowhere in sight, nor Chaeyoung, which was absurd. The two would always be here before 8 o'clock, yet there's not a sign of them anywhere.

"Maybe she's running late?" Jisoo guessed, gulping down her bought coke in the vending machine. She was sitting on Lisa's desk, swinging her legs back and forth. She hears the blonde sighing,

"You say that but Jennie has never been late,"

Jisoo hummed, placing the coke down.

"Figured you were gonna say that."

Hearing this, one of Lisa's brows went up. "Then why even say it?"

Jisoo shrugged as she sipped her can of coke, having no response to what she had said. Lisa rolled her eyes,

"You're useless sometimes you know that? And to think that you're part of the student council makes me question why they even made you president." Lisa whispered the last sentence, but she knows that even if Jisoo heard it there'd be no reaction either. Giving up on searching for those love birds, Lisa took it upon herself to wait and maybe text the brunette after class. Jennie probably has some sort of reason why she's late, or rather why they're late.

Settling with that, She slid her arms forward, laying them beside Jisoo's legs. At the same time, Jisoo had stopped swinging her legs, patting the girl whose head had invited themself onto her lap. While doing so, her eyes unconsciously trailed towards the window. She thought while gazing,

The weather is immensely great today. Wonder why?

"We're gonna be late, hurry!" Jennie yelled. She grabbed a hold of a warm hand behind her and forcefully pulled them to match her speed.

"We are late." Came a timid voice, panting and trying to escape the tight grip made by the brunette. She knows the latter is small but with that small body, how can she be so strong?

"I'm not letting go of you, so you better grab me." Her eyes came in contact with Jennie's cat ones, looking over her shoulder and realized the brunette knew she was trying to pull her hand out.

"Uh, sorry. I wasn't trying to-"

Jennie suddenly lifted their hands in the air. With their hands tangled, she blushed and hid away, hanging her head low. "What are you doing?"

They were running, holding hands lifted in the air, wouldn't people look? Worse, they might get caught by a teacher.

"Calm down, I won't let them see us, Chae." The short brunette dropped their hands down and intertwined them securely.

Feeling the butterflies dancing about in her stomach, the blonde squeezed back, smiling shyly.

She doesn't know if they should be even doing this, but all is right when you're with the right person in the right place. Jennie had trusted her to take care of her heart and she's never letting that opportunity go.

The confession went on till they got to her place and she never expected Jennie to be persistent to take her home but she felt safe, a sense of warmth that somebody cared about her in that way.
