Chapter 4
Jennie halted in her tracks and turned to the voice that had called her out of the blue. What she didn't expect was the taller to be rushing forward in her direction. An expression of terror displaying on her pretty pale face.
"Chaeyoung?" Worried that her precious chipmunk might be experiencing something bad, Jennie doesn't think twice to let out an anxious tone.
The brunette feared that Chaeyoung may have been utterly offended by what she said this morning, although she meant to be true to her words and found Chaeyoung adorable every day and every moment. To Jennie, the blonde is always beautiful in her eyes, and imagining Chaeyoung saying otherwise—the brunette would beg to differ.
If Chaeyoung was so insecure about it then she would apologize for her sake, but in no way shape, or form would Jennie lie that she doesn't find Chaeyoung the most beautiful girl she's ever laid eyes on. Why do you think she's head over heels for her? After all, It doesn't take a genius to connect the two dots that Jennie is wrapped around Chaeyoung's finger.
"Are you leaving?" The taller asks, three steps away from Jennie.
The brunette didn't expect the question, taking her a minute to respond. She clears her throat,
"Well, the bell rang just a second ago if I remember correctly." She says, meeting Chaeyoung's eyes. She's instantly smitten at the image and can't help but gnaw at her bottom lip in desperation.
Who gave her eyes like that? And said she could keep them? This is too much for my poor heart!
"Right...I just thought um...you know together we would or um...could go back home..." Chaeyoung scrambled with her words, most of them were unrecognizable because she was whispering them and it didn't help that Jennie's heart was beating erratically from being starstruck and only listened to a few of what the blonde said.
"...so yeah, I want us to walk home together. If you're okay with it?" Chaeyoung concludes and Jennie blinks, dumbfounded as to what was said to her.
"Huh?" She raises her brows, aware that she had no idea what the caller was talking about. She quietly laughs at herself. "Sorry I didn't hear what you said can you..." Just then she hears Chaeyoung's heels getting closer and her voice clearing.
Jennie pauses, her eyes broadening from the scene she's witnessing.
Chaeyoung had looked away from Jennie and zoomed her eyes on the board upfront. Her face slowly flushed red as she whispered these words just enough for the brunette to hear.
"I want us to walk home together."
They were simple yet they made such an impact on Jennie's heart. It pumped with joy almost as if it was its last. Has it always been like this when you're in love? This fluttering feeling, flying above the clouds, soaring so high and delicately. She fell again. And she didn't mind if it were to be every day.
Chaeyoung's features crumbled in embarrassment and Jennie was left staring in awe at the blonde's red-tinted face. She was fidgeting in her stance, biting her lip, and moving her eyes around. It was adorable from Jennie's point of view.
Enamored by the way, Chaeyoung's shyness seems to make her more attractive than she already is, Jennie had almost forgotten why she was avoiding the taller. It was now her turn to crumble.
"What about this morning then?" She asks, carefully.
The blonde repeats her question, clueless to what she's talking about. "This morning...?"
Feeling that she needed to explain herself, Jennie blurted out her words in a hurry.
"Yeah, you ran away from me this morning. I had thought I said something bad and offended you, which I truly didn't mean to cause, I'm so sorry for giving you discomfort if my comment made you uncomfortable. I mean I've always found you beautiful so I...." Jennie stopped immediately. Her eyes frantically widened and she malfunctioned on the spot, her hand flying directly to her mouth.
