Chapter 6

"Eh??"

Chaeyoung stayed indifferent from the brunette's comment and casually removed her hand back from Jennie's delicate ones. She took a step back and smiled away,

"Yeah, I know. Surprising isn't it?" She adjusted her book bag on her shoulder, seeming to leave the conversation with that. But Jennie didn't think so. Before Chaeyoung could move past her, the shorter woman held the blonde's blazer and pulled her over.

"W-wait...Chae...you like me? As in romantically?" Jennie needed confirmation just so she doesn't embarrass herself like an idiot in love for assuming something that wasn't intended to sound what she made it out to be.

The girl's a de lulu and after a confession like that, she's frustrated whether the other was being serious with her. And if Chaeyoung thinks she can get away with this then Jennie just has to prove her wrong.

The blonde remained tight-lipped. Clenching at the straps of her bag, she gazed at Jennie's narrowed eyes and knew she wasn't gonna get away with this.

Sighing in defeat, the blonde nodded. "Yeah, I like you..." She trails, looking down. "Romantically."

A rush of fresh breeze washed over Jennie. She retracts her hand back only for it to fly towards her mouth. Her eyes broadened from sheer relief at the confession. She doesn't know what to feel and it's taking all in her not to jump and hug the blonde with kisses if she could.

"Y-you like—OHMYGOSH YOU LIKE ME!" Jennie screamed, happiness evident in her tone. Yes, she was happy indeed.

With the sudden information, the brunette couldn't help slapping her cheeks with both hands. Her once pale face turned a tad bit red from it, but that isn't her concern right now. She could turn into a tomato for all she cares and it wouldn't matter if the blonde is willing to accept a fruit to be her lover, right? Just kidding.

But to be frank the shorter is losing her marbles. A sudden confession was not expected. And by her gorgeous crush nonetheless? There was no way she's going to survive knowing that Chaeyoung liked her back. Though, she needs to stay alive because she won't miss the chance to be called Chaeyoung's girlfriend officially out in public. She definitely won't.

Possessing a deep blush on her face Jennie quickly covered her face and warily stared at the precious girl before her. Hesitantly, Jennie asked once again for definite confirmation.

"S-so..you do...like me?"

Chaeyoung didn't bat an eye when she looked straight into Jennie's eyes, giving her an absolute assert that she wasn't lying at all. She could never lie being confronted by a dumpling whose face eagerly wanted her to agree. In the blonde's defense, who could ever resist those cheeks and eyes? An alien might even have a hard time.

The taller one chuckles at the thought. "Is it that hard to believe that I do like you?" Chaeyoung raised her brow, questioning with humor. She further teased the brunette when she saw her flushed face.

"Well, I like you. Is there a problem with that?"

Jennie's fist clenched, she bit her lip. "There's no problem with it..." Her voice sounded so soft, almost whisper-like. "I don't have a problem with you liking me, alright?" She said, firmly clearing her words at the end.

Chaeyoung purses her lips. She had known about it for quite a while. Let's just say that she was very observant, especially when it came to Jennie. How could she not be? The girl was the only one brave enough to converse with her in class with students enviously watching. She was aware of it and she thought that it was deliberate. So evidently laid out in front of her eyes she wouldn't miss it even if she's blindfolded. There were subtle hints that were intended to be more than just what it should be and Chaeyoung wasn't sure yet at the time, so she dismissed them. But flies tend to bug the heck out of you once you start pushing them away. And that's exactly what happened with Jennie.

"So, is it okay with you even if it's a one-sided love?" The blonde asked.

"Huh?" Panic seeped in Jennie's voice.

"I'm asking you if it is okay that I like you even if you don't—"

It was unconscious. It was at the tip of her tongue. Or maybe she had meant to say it. She had wanted to for the longest time, and to be stripped off of that just to be labeled as if she didn't have those feelings. Then she might as well not have done all of it from the very beginning. She was upset, and maybe a little bit sulky but she has every right to be expressing whatever she wants to express because she had been wronged.

"I feel the same way."

"...Feel the same way..."

They both said almost simultaneously, pausing immediately after realizing what the other said.

"What?" Chaeyoung looked perplexed, almost believing what she heard might've been a hallucination.

Jennie scoffed, crossing her arms. She appeared annoyed but it was taking everything in her to muster up the courage to finally open up her feelings once and for all.

"Do I need to say it again? Or are you too dense to realize my feelings even when confronted like this?"

Chaeyoung had wanted to say that she did, she almost did believe. But picturing something so impossible from the start isn't something she's willing to put effort into unless there's a possible chance her hunch might be true.

And her hunch was true. The pestering brunette did like her back. As shocking as that revelation was, she still needed time to process it.

"Y-you..." The blonde stuttered, pointing at Jennie.

The shorter one nodded. "Yeah, I like you." She shrugged both of her shoulders, inching her steps closer to the taller.

"Was it that hard to notice?" Jennie leaned, bending downwards. She had a slight frown forming on her face as she stood in front of Chaeyoung, who couldn't help but be flushed from the unexpected blow her heart had not been ready for.

There was a one percent chance that the person you like would actually like you back, Chaeyoung had thought. She hoped for the possible outcome and took the way where she didn't have to confront her feelings and suffer from not having her love to be returned.

But maybe once in a while, you just have to put some trust in faith and let it be as is because who knows? It might just surprise you. Well, maybe. In Chaeyoung's case, that is.

Chaeyoung felt a nudge on her waist, snapping her out of her trance. She gave a huge heave, picking up the bag that had fallen on her shoulder.

"Hey, are you even listening?" The shorter woman complained, following the blonde with her eyes. The girl before her stared warily at door,

"I am." Although, the latter seemed indifferent from Jennie's bare eyes. Chaeyoung knew she was a ticking bomb waiting to self-destruct. Her voice was wavering in agitation.

But the cat-eyed brunette simply didn't wanna wait and beat around the bush for her concerns.

"Then...let's start going out."

Just like you.
