P R O M P T: "When are you putting a ring on her, man?"
Spending the winter in hot and sunny weather in Australia had quickly become one of your favourite things about dating a man from down under. Of course, his gorgeous brown eyes, muscly neck and biceps and amazing personality all topped that list. But laying here, on a lounger in the sun next to the pool of Daniel's house while the rest of your colleagues posted pictures of their kids in the snow or a burning fireplace, felt so good. You had been dating Daniel for almost three years now and his family had become your own from the moment you stepped foot in their house for the first time years ago. It was a few days before Christmas and you and Daniel had decided to throw a BBQ party for his family and some of his friends. After getting up from the lounger and going to your shared bedroom to get dressed in a yellow summer dress and white espadrilles, you headed towards the kitchen. Daniel had bought all the food you would need to make an awesome spread to put on the table for everyone to enjoy earlier that day.
You started preparing the salad, seasoning the meat and cutting the bread when you felt his presence behind you. "You look gorgeous, doll". Daniel said while you felt his breath ghost over your ear. "I can't wait to get you out of this dress later tonight". You laughed and turned around to give him a kiss and slightly pushed him away. He walked outside to set up the barbecue and you continued your efforts in the kitchen. People slowly started to arrive when you were done and you walked outside to meet his parents, sister and her husband. You loved seeing them again and talked with each of them for a while. You noticed Daniel standing on the other end of the garden, talking to his trainer and friend Michael and some of the other boys. He winked at you and you felt your cheeks burn up. After all this time, he still had that effect on you.
You carried out all the food, together with Michelle and Daniel started grilling some burgers right away. He looked over at you while he was chatting with Michael and he couldn't help but smile when he saw your gorgeous face. "You're really happy with her, aren't you?" Michael asked and Daniel nodded. "Yeah, she is absolutely amazing. She keeps me focused but pulls out the goofy side every once in a while as well. We're the best of friends and I mean, look at her, she is stunning". He said and Michael patted him on the back before they walked over to the table to eat. Daniel sat down beside you and kissed your cheek softly. "Thank you for preparing all of this". He said and you smiled. Daniel held a little speech while you poured everyone a glass of champagne. The evening was amazing and the food was delicious. You had just finished cleaning the table when you walked out again to find Daniel sitting around a bonfire with his mates.
"Hey baby.." He said when you went to sit down on his lap. He moved his arm around your waist and kissed your forehead. Daniel talked with his friends about his racing, their girlfriends, Christmas and New Years Eve plans and funny stories from their past while you listened and laughed with them. Michelle had joined you as soon as Daniel's parents left and you talked for a couple of hours before you started yawning. It had been a long day and you had to get up early the next morning for your yoga class. "I'm heading to bed babe". You said to Daniel and you moved your lips over to his ear to whisper to him. "I'm taking off this dress by myself, but you know where to find me when you want to finish where I left off". Michael saw Daniel gasp and he knew exactly what type of comment you just made. You stood up, kissed Daniel on the cheek, asked the boys if they wanted another round of beer and headed inside to get it for them. When you had passed round the bottles and wished everyone goodnight, Michael moved over to sit closer to Daniel.
"When are you putting a ring on her, man? She is the perfect woman for you". He chuckled and Daniel looked at him with a smile on his face. "She's beautiful, makes banging food, leaves you to chat with your friends when she's tired, lets you know you can come and get some when you're up for it and asks the boys if they want another round to drink before she leaves. If you are not marrying this woman, I am!" He said and Daniel laughed. "Don't you dare, it may happen sooner than you think". He said while winking at him knowing he was planning on proposing to you on New Years Eve and they lifted their bottles to cheers to that.
