A / N: For Nelleke9 💛 Thank you so much for your request! It's a bit of a shorter one and no smut this time because I have sinned too much already lately. But I hope you still like it!
P R O M P T: "Can't you see that I'm in love with you?"
You sighed while taking a sip of your coffee. You were sat on the balcony of Daniel's apartment in Monaco and you were taking a fifteen-minute break to scroll through your phone and answer some messages. Being his personal assistant was the best job in the world. Not only did you get to move to Monaco and was it your dream job, Daniel was also the coolest boss who let you do anything you want whenever you wanted to. It was probably his Australian side showing because he was very laidback and easy whenever you asked for something. You took the last sip of your tea and stood up to go back inside. Daniel had just finished a meeting and you received an email right away from his PR- agent with some more tasks for you to do.
Your eyes shifted to him when he entered the kitchen and he smiled widely at you. "I'm going to run a few errands soon, is there anything I can get you from the shops?" You asked him and he took a while to think. "If you want to get me one of those smoothies from the place around the corner and maybe a salad, that would be awesome". You nodded and grabbed your bag to get going. It wasn't very busy out today, so it didn't take you too long to do what you needed to do and grab Daniel his food. After an hour you returned and saw Daniel hadn't moved from the kitchen counter yet. You giggled softly and his head snapped up. "What?! I was just waiting here for you!" He said with his signature cheeky look on his face. You shook your head and placed his salad and smoothie in front of him.
Your phone buzzed on the counter while you were grabbing a glass of water and when you turned back around, you spotted Daniel look away from the screen quickly. You walked over and picked up the device, pretending you hadn't seen anything. There was a text message from Robert, a rich real estate agent you met a few nights ago and he wanted to know if you were interested in going out for dinner with him tonight. You hesitated and decided to think about it a bit longer before you responded. You placed your phone back on the counter and sat down behind your laptop at the dinner table. "Are you going?" Daniel suddenly asked and you looked at him with a confused look on your face. "I didn't know it was in my job description to let you read my text messages.." You responded, a little annoyed.
"Well, I just happened to see it because it was right in front of me. And you see my text messages all the time!" Daniel said and you furrowed your brows. "Because I am your assistant. I NEED to see them sometimes.. Mine are personal". He looked down at you and you didn't really know what his face was showing you right now. "Well, are you going?" He asked again and you sighed. "I don't know yet. But I'll let you know if I do, okay?" He started to get on your nerves a bit, but you knew he wouldn't take offence in your tone. You were used to bickering like brother and sister with him all the time. Daniel stood up and took his salad and smoothie to sit across from you at the table. He knew you didn't like it when he did this, you were so easily distracted when he sat right in front of you.
You felt his gaze on you for the next ten minutes and even though neither of you was talking, there was a lot being said in the silence. "Why are you concerned about it anyway?" You decided to ask him after you couldn't pretend to be working any longer. Daniel put his cup down and fiddled with the straw before he spoke up. "I don't know this guy, he might even be some creep with bad intentions". It was weird to see him this concerned, he had never been interested in your love life before. Not that there was anything to be concerned about, this would be your first date since you moved here. There had been opportunities but you had always turned them down, not really knowing why. Somehow the guys just never seemed good enough to you. "I'm sure it will be fine. I really appreciate it, but I don't need your help in my dating life, Daniel". You said, showing him a small smile.
His face fell and he stood up again. Why was he acting like a toddler all of a sudden? You carried on working and Daniel left the apartment for a few hours to go to the gym. You thought about his reaction for a moment while he was gone, not really understanding what he was so afraid of happening. You still hadn't figured it out when he came back and you got even more confused when he only greeted you with a quiet "Hi.." before he stormed off to his bedroom. You couldn't take it anymore, so you followed him and hesitated before you knocked on the door. "Daniel, can we talk please?" You asked and a few moments later he answered the door. You swallowed hard when you saw he had taken off his shirt, probably heading for the shower before you knocked and you quickly diverted your eyes back to his face when he cleared his throat.
You felt the blushes creep onto your cheeks and tried to hide them by walking past him into his bedroom. You spent a lot of time here together, packing for his trips and even on the bed during movie nights so it wasn't weird for you to be in here. When you had calmed down a bit more, you turned back to him and spoke up. "I just wanted to know why you are so upset with me all of a sudden. It's just a date, it's not like I'm going to marry.." But before you could even finish your sentence, Daniel's hands grabbed your arms and he interrupted you. "Can't you see that I'm in love with you?" Your eyes went wide. "You're w-what?" You stammered, not believing you heard that correctly. "I'm in love with you, y/n. And I don't want you to go on a date with someone else".
There were no words that felt good enough to say at this moment in time. You just stared at Daniel's face right in front of you. You shook your head slightly, still not believing it was true, but he nodded his head in response. You couldn't believe what was happening when you saw Daniel lean forward slowly. Right before his lips grazed yours, your eyes fluttered closed and you let out a small whimper when he kissed you properly. Time seemed to slow down, making you even more aware of the butterflies that had erupted in your body and the tingles that were shooting up and down your spine. Every puzzle piece seemed to fall into place when you felt his strong arms around you. Of course, no one was ever good enough. This was it. This was what you needed. You had subconsciously been comparing every guy to Daniel and it had never felt like this. Like when you were together, even when you bickered like brother and sister.
You had never felt a kiss like this before. It was as if you were made for each other and you instantly knew how to become one. His hand cupped your cheek and you let out another small whimper at the sweet gesture. "Are you s-sure?" You stuttered when Daniel pulled back slowly. His thumb kept caressing your face and you had never seen anyone look this deeply into your eyes. "100%. I have been for a while now. I just couldn't keep my feelings hidden when I saw that text message". He answered and you smiled sweetly. It took every bit of courage inside your body to say the words that were on the tip of your tongue right now, but you let out a big breath and just went for it. "I think I've always kept everyone away because 'they weren't good enough' but that isn't true". You said to him and he tilted his head a bit while looking at you.
"Well, it is true that they weren't good enough, but the main reason I wasn't interested was that they're not you. I love you too, Daniel".
