I groaned, sitting up. I still felt drowsy from whatever they used to put me to sleep. I rubbed my eyes, feeling something cold and hard pressing against the fragile skin of my eyelids. I held my han--hands out, staring at the shiny, metallic one.
I threw the blanket off, suddenly envigorated, and looked down to see a shiny metal leg poking out.
"You're up early," I glanced up, seeing Mack coming in.
"The operation worked?" I asked, unsure if I was dreaming, and he nodded.
"Here," he came over, taking my flesh arm and helping me ease onto my feet. I pivoted towards him, a grin taking over my face. I wrapped my arms around him, giving him a big hug.
"Thank you," I muttered, resting my head on his shoulder.
"It wasn't me that did this. It was you," he said, pulling back and setting his hands just above my elbows. "Now, you still have to go through rehab, get used to the new limbs but at this rate, you'll be up and running in no time. You up for that?" he asked.
"I'll do whatever it takes."
