Rani watched with tears in her eyes as Queen Janna spoke to each of the Night Pride members. After Janna spoke to her, Rani went to the side, crying softly. She spotted Kion groaning as he tried to get up and comfort her.
Rani made her way over, managing a brief, tiny smile at his attempt.
"Don't, Kion," Rani said.
Kion shook his head. "Seeing you in pain hurts more than me in pain, Rani."
The tears started flowing freely down Rani's face again. He truly was worthy of her.
...
"Rani is the new queen!!" Makini shouted to all the animals.
Rani had just been crowned the new queen of the Tree of Life. Animals were cheering and yelling, but her attention wasn't on them. Her eyes darted through the crowd, looking for someone in particular.
Then she spotted him.
Kion was smiling fondly at her and was atop Beshte's back. He mouthed something at her and she gasped.
"You're beautiful, Rani" was what he mouthed to her. A smile spread across her face and she stepped down, making her way over to him.
"Come on."
Rani carried Kion to the Hill of Power. She nuzzled him and he nuzzled her back. Suddenly, out of the blue, Kion whispered the words she had wanted to hear for oh, so many days.
"I love you more than you will ever know, Rani."
A gasp escaped Rani's mouth and she cried with happiness, rolling into Kion's paws.
"Wh-"
"I'm happy, Kion," Rani sniffed through tears, "these are happy tears."
Okay, that was literally the shortest update ever but homework can be...ugly sometimes. I almost ripped my paper because I erased so much and I had to redo it...I was stuck on writer's block for the past few weeks, but now, hopefully, I'm back! Thank you guys for being patient 🤞🥺
