A.N. So, I was playing FGO and going through Ushiwakamaru's voice lines when I noticed she addresses her Master as Lord. So, uh, yeah... sorry, I guess, to anyone that noticed this before I did.
It had been a few days since our group split, and I am suddenly aware of how much traveling we've been doing. I'm used to it, of course, but still! Singularity F took a few hours, almost a day, and we've been here for about a week now.
Shaking my head to get back on topic, I look over at Mash, "How long till we get to this city? Thiers, I think you called it?"
"Correct, Senpai, and we will be arriving soon," Mash answers.
"How soon? 'Cause soon can be a few minutes, or a few hours," I whine.
"Have patience, Vox, you are acting like a child," Artoria scolds, "Actually, I believe that Gil is behaving better than you at the moment."
"Hey!"
"Thank you, Miss Artoria!" Gil says, smiling widely from his spot on Artoria's shoulders.
The two make for an interesting pair, what with Gil's happy attitude compared to Artoria's stern expression. Although, I'm pretty sure I saw Arty smiling slightly. I'm half tempted to tease her on being a parent, but I don't want to risk bringing up bad memories.
'By Lugh, what if I summoned Mordred?'
"Something the matter, Vox?" Artoria asks, knocking me out of my thoughts.
"Nope," I answer, "Just thinking. Anyw-WHOA!"
I nearly fall on my ass as a column of fire erupts into the air a good distance down the road. The source is a town, presumably Thiers, which will take about thirty minutes to reach at our current speed.
"The hell was that!?" I exclaim, activating the comm, "Doc, sitrep!"
"I'm getting two Servant signatures from within the town," Roman says.
Amadeus winces, holding his ears, "Gah! What is that intolerable screeching?"
I raise an eyebrow at the Caster before remembering that he somehow made himself part devil in order to have enhanced hearing. Dispelling the illusion over my ears, I barely manage to hear a faint high-pitched sound.
I blink, "I can barely hear that. How good is your hearing?"
"Very," Amadeus answers, "And, for once, I wish I didn't have such prowess."
"Can't you just cast something to muffle the sound?" I ask, "I mean, your magecraft does revolve around music."
"...I hadn't thought of that," Amadeus mutters, taking out his conductor's wand and waving it around.
Small music notes fly out of the wand and move to hover around Amadeus' ears.
Mozart sighs, "Much better."
"Now that that matter is settled," Artoria says from behind me, and I'm suddenly in her arms, "we should investigate."
"R-right," I stutter, my cheeks heating up, "But, could you put me down?"
"It is faster this way," Artoria says, and I notice that Gil is now with Mash.
"Fine," I pout, and we're off.
It, thankfully, only takes us a couple of minutes to reach the entrance to Thiers, where Artoria places me back on solid ground. I take a second to regain my balance, while doing my best to fight down the blush that had spread across my cheeks.
Shaking my head and regaining my composure, I turn to the Servants, "Alright, gang, let's go investigate."
We quickly made our way into the town and towards the center, which seemed to be where most of the people were. As we get closer, I notice that many of them are hiding behind objects or in doorways while watching whatever is occurring in the center of town. I wonder what has them so frightened. A monster? Berserk Servant?
