Heels clicked against the cold floor of Derek's basement, the freshly awakened Scott and exhausted Aurelia trailed after him. After the party last night, Scott was taken back to Deaton who helped heal him up, whilst Lia helped tend to the injuries scattered along Derek's arm and rib cage. Reluctant would be a word to describe the way Derek acted when Aurelia offered, but with some convincing from Deaton, he caved. "I'm saying we need a new plan, because next time, one of us is gonna be too hurt to heal." Derek sighed, sitting down in an abandoned school bus that was parked in the basement. Aurelia leaned against the door frame and nodded whilst Scott stood across from the older wolf with his arms folded.
"Ugh, I get it." Scott huffed, slumping into the seats like a toddler. "We can't save Jackson."
"We can't seem to kill him either." Derek deadpanned, his harsh words provoking a frown to appear on the Lahey's face. "I've seen a lot of things, Scott. I've never seen anything like this. Every new moon's just gonna make him stronger." The wind whistled above them and brushed against Aurelia's back. Shaking her shoulders, she drew her arms into her sleeves and stuffed them into her pockets — trying her best to preserve her heat.
"But how do we stop him?" She asked.
"I don't know," Derek answered honestly, looking to the girl. "I don't even know if we can."
"Maybe we should just let the Argents handle it." Scott proposed, and as Scott wasn't known for giving up so easy, Lia paled and looked like she had seen a ghost.
"Giving up so easy?"
Neither Derek nor Scott responded, choosing to take the high road and ignore the snarky comment. "I'm the one who turned him. It's my fault."
Aurelia stood straighter, moving and sitting in the seat next to Derek. "It's no one's fault, you only did what he asked of you." She assured, granted Jackson's thick and barely knew anything of the supernatural but nonetheless he asked.
"You didn't turn him into this. I mean, this happened because of something in his past, right?" Scott agreed, leaning forward onto his knees.
"That's a legend in a book. It's not that simple." Derek snapped, raising out of his seat and beginning to pace the length of the bus.
"What do you mean? What are you not telling me?" Scott grilled, Derek's eyebrows raised in shock and his arms raised to the sides of his head.
"Why do you think I'm always keeping something from you?" The Hale asked.
"Because you always are keeping something from me." Holding back a laugh, Aurelia shook her head at Scott's response, the pair were acting like an old married couple.
"Well, maybe I do it to protect you."
"Doesn't being part of your pack mean no more secrets?" Scott retorted. This was the first time Scott acknowledged the idea that he was a part of Derek's pack, making Lia listen in closer.
"Go home, Scott." Derek sighed, brushing off his question. "Sleep. Heal. Make sure your friends are safe, make sure this one gets home safe." Derek ordered, walking them out of the bus. "Cause the full moon's coming. And with the way things are going, I've got a feeling it's gonna be a rough one."
