Rose woke up to the sound of her alarm. With a groan, she rolled onto her back to turn it up, hoping it wouldn't disturb Max. Today was her birthday, the last ever day she would get to see the sun. The last ever day she'd be a full human. The last day that would be considered 'normal.' She didn't mind. She knew what she was getting into, after all.
She sighed, swinging her legs over her bed to get dressed into a flowery crop top and light blue ripped shorts. She applied her makeup, planning to make the most of the sun. Rose then started to pack the rest of her things so she can move to the cave that night.
Once she finished, she left the house and ran to the boardwalk to meet her friends who were sitting against the wall smoking. Daniel smiled 'Look who's the birthday girl' her friends cheered as she playfully lifted her top revealing her bra.
''Let's go to the beach'' she announced. There was no way that she wasn't going to enjoy the last bit of sun. They all agreed and we went to the beach. She laid on a towel one of the boys put down for them and began to sunbathe. Some of the other girls did the same, while the boys were splashing each other in the sea.
Daniel sat down and looked down at her. ''What's up?''
''The sky'' she replied, closing her eyes
'C'mon. Tell me. You know I won't judge or tell anyone, right?''
Rose sighed almost impatiently, while counting to ten in her head. She couldn't be arsed lying any more
''Today is my last day before I go to some private school. But the thing is that its miles away from Santa Carla. Plus I got night shifts at my Dad's store. I won't be able to hang with you guys anymore'' She lied, hoping that it was convincing enough
Daniel looked at her with a shocked but sad expression. Rose mentally rolled her eyes and sat up using her elbows ''I'm really sorry, Danny''
''It won't stop us from seeing each other. I'll make sure of it''
He slowly leaned in slowly as if he was trying to kiss her. She dodged it and hugged him instead ''Sure you will'' she muttered
Daniel almost looked hurt but shook it off. Rose laid back down and shut her eyes again, making sure she'd absorb as much vitamin C as she could
After a while, it slowly began to get dark. She stood up, wiping the sand off her legs ''I gotta go guys, I'll see you all around'' she told her friends as I hugged everyone tightly.
They waved their goodbyes as Rose sped walked from the beach to Max's so she can get ready for the boys picking me up. Deciding to get ready, she went for a hot shower. Once she was finished, She went to her bedroom to dry her hair and brushed it letting it down naturally. She then got dressed in a short black skirt, black crop top and my oversized leather jacket.
She looked in her body length mirror and checked herself out. 'I can't believe this is happening' She thought nervously. Tonight is the night.
'' Rose hurry up, we need to go'' Max yelled from downstairs, snapping her from her thoughts
''Coming'' she yelled back while grabbing the remaining bags and walked downstairs to meet Max. He took her bags before placing them on the ground
''Happy birthday, sweetheart'' he said with a smile, handing her a small red box
She slowly opened the box. Inside there was a silver bracelet, with small diamonds in the middle. Rose's eyes widened. It must of been worth a fortune. She pulled him into a hug and muttered 'thank you' over and over again
Max smiled softly, stroking her hair in return ''You're welcome. Now we should go. We can't be late for the boys now, can we?''
