Chapter 12

''Come to the boardwalk with me. Some fresh air might do you good'' Rose looked in the mirror, flicking her hair out from the inside of her jacket

Eliot groaned and rolled over in her bed. ''Fine. I'll maybe come back to check on you later. Drink water and take it easy'' Rose said and walked out of the house.

She ran to the boardwalk and looked around. She was almost hiding from the boys. They weren't there. Rose sighed with relief and went into the candy store, she bought herself a cola lollipop. She walked around until she came across a bench, she sat on it. She watched the people going on with their normal lives. Children running around excitedly, young sweethearts holding hands, people laughing and dancing. She remembered how she always used to do that. Now that it's gone and she can no longer do that anymore, she realised how she took her last little bit of freedom for granted.

''Hey, stranger'' said a familiar voice.

Rose snapped out of her thoughts and her around ''Hey, Michael. How's it going''

''My mom wanted me to ask you if you'll babysit Sam next Saturday when she's on night shift. If that's okay. She said she'll pay you'' Michael said

Rose nodded ''Yeah, Saturday will be fine''

''Wanna get something to eat?'' Michael asked

Rose nodded ''Yeah sure, I'd like that'' she smiled softly

He leads her to his bike, which he took great pride in. She waited as he got on his bike first, she felt four pairs of eyes watching them. Rose grew nervous. Before she got time to get on with him, four motorcycles surrounded them.

''Where ya goin' Rose'' David asked

Rose gritted her teeth and glared at him ''For a ride with Michael'' she placed a hand on his shoulder to support herself getting on the bike

''Rose'' David raised his eyebrows

'I fuckin hate you' she thought to him

'Oh but you fuckin love me' he thought back

'You promised you'd let me do this'

'You're taking too long. And your getting attached'' he replied

'He's my mate and quite frankly, I like him more than I like any of you because he treats me right' She thought back

David ignored her ''Rose. Now'' he said in a low voice

Rose turned to Michael and gave him an apologetically look and got on David's bike. She glared at the rest of the boys who were sniggering

''You know where Hudson Bluff is over lookin' the point''

''I can't beat your bike'' Michael replied

''You don't have to beat me, Michael. Just gotta try to keep up'' He started his engine

Rose held onto his jacket instead of his waist ''I'll never forgive what you or the boys did last night'' she said lowly, so only David could hear

David rolled his eyes ''It was your punishment. Learn your lesson, then move on sweetheart''

Rose bit her lip angrily as they sped off. She looked behind her, Michael was not far behind them as he was yelling and cheering with the boys.

She shook her head and turned back. It's not gonna end well.

After a short while, they were heading towards the cliff. Rose's eyes widened slightly ''David, don't''

''Don't what'' he yelled while chuckling

''If he falls off that cliff because of you I swear I'll leave and never come back'' she threatened. She could almost feel David smirking

She bit her lip and turned around again. Michael wasn't behind them anymore. He was right next to them. Suddenly, David's bike went to a sudden halt and Michael was on the ground. She looked over, she could see the cliff edge

Michael stood up and punched David in the face. Rose smiled as the boys pulled Michael off 'You deserved that' she thought to him

He gave her a look and then turned to Michael, smirking. ''How far are you willing to go, Michael?''
