I spent 3 days at Calum's, I told my mom that I had soccer practice. Lies. When I came back I wore long sleeves, I'm so lucky it was cold. My mom always brought me vege trays, but now I was studying for real. I practically shunned Michael, and me and Calum's "dating" rumor died down and we hadn't talked since Wednesday. It was 5th hour when Mr. Brien got a call that sent me to the office. I was ready to punch Jonah right in the gut, trying to win me back by making... skip school sure it was my favorite things to do, but I hated him. When u got to the office, they told me that there was some bad news so they told me to sit down. Then they quickly said,

"Your house went up in flames, from a stove fire."

"Oh god" I said "Is every one ok?"

I didn't care much about my house, and I knew that my mom was at work so.. But then they quieted and told me,

"Your mom was home." She coughed
"She's- she is dead Mackenzie"

My ears rang. My legs were numb, so were my hands. Everything is ever had just died. My dad never showed up at my birth, and never called. My mom was everything, anything, my hope and joy. I felt nauseous and I want to cry and scream and punch someone in the face. What was my life doing. They told me that I could have my own house of room with someone because I was to old for a orphanage. Did they have souls? Every thing I loved just vanished and there telling me to get back to class. What? My life was dead. I had nothing. Good bye, sweet world, I'm officially dead inside.

When Mack walked back into Mr. Briens 5th hour she looked fake, like she had been told to act like she was I a pageant. But I wasn't buying it, so after the hour I asked her, and then she told me that her mother had died in a house fire. What was the universe trying to do to this amazing lady? I loved her, but it was getting harder and harder to keep this depression down. Even if I tried she just kept getting weighed down on by issues that will haunt her forever. Her mother is her joy and glory, so I guess I had to be her new light. If she let me. So I asked her if she could leave school, she asked the office and they said yes so we got in my car. She couldn't learn that her mom was dead and then have to be same room as her
rapest. We left and drove to my house and I lied her down and explained what had happened to her to my mom. My mom said she could stay as long as she wanted, my mom knew how much I loved her.

I looked at my phone after my 6 hour nap, I went through every single text my mom ever sent me. I missed her unimaginably, she was my light, my love and no one could replace her.
After Calum walked in the room he told me I was staying at his place for as long as I needed. Great. A place, at least I had that. No clothes, no love, no shoes, no anything, but I had a place. I ate an apple that Calum left me, washed my face and came into the living room where I got a hug from Shannon(Calum's mom).

"Sweet heart" she comforted me "your my daughter now"

I broke in her arms and cried in her shoulder. I was there for what felt like hours, but it had only been 45 minutes. Then Calum walked in,

"Mackenzie, what do you need"

"Uh nothing" I sobbed

"Yes you do" he insisted

"Well I need clothes"

"Exactly"

"What do you mean?"

"I just got your wardrobe back for 190 dollars"

"But that closet had 2,ooo dollars of clothes"

"Insurance makes things replaced cheaper"

"So I have clothes"

A least I had something to call mine, that's what I needed to start closure. Something to call my own.
