Severus Snape x Reader • he can't keep us apart

Chapter 11

Snape's P.O.V:
It had been weeks, weeks without her. I went to visit her every day while everyone else was eating in the great hall, it broke my heart to see her there. To see her body just lying there unconsciously, watching her shoulders raise slightly as she breathed. 'Why do all the people I care about end up getting hurt' I couldn't help but think to myself each night as I sat there next to her, watching as she slept and wishing that she would wake up.

I was on my way to the hospital wing to visit her for the evening when I bumped into Dumbledore walking into the direction of the great hall. "Excuse me Albus, seems I was to.. invested in my thoughts" Albus nodded and gave me a smile glazing at me with his twinkling eyes. "You may want to hurry Severus, I heard from madam Pomfrey that miss Forbes has awoken just a few minutes ago." My heart skipped a beat, I gave him a nod trying to act professional and walked away fast trying to get there as soon as possible. When I was out of eyesight from anyone I broke into a run. When finally getting to the hospital wing and flinging the doors open I couldn't help but smile at the site of skye finally awake staring at me from her bed.

Skye's P.O.V:
The tall cloaked man gave me a sympathetic smile Before he came running over to my bed and kneeled down next to me, I didn't have enough energy to talk so I just gave him a smile insuring him that I was alright and happy to have him there with me. "Im so sorry skye" Severus put a hand on my cheek cupping my face. I leaned my head into his hand and put all of my energy into saying something to him "I- it's not your f-f-fault!" I gave him a worried look concerned and confused at why he was blaming himself "I-if it weren't for y-you I would have d-died y-you saved me s-sev" he slowly brought his head up to mine and kissed my forehead "I won't ever let anything bad happen to you again" he whispered before bringing his eyes back down to mine and looking at me, it seemed as though he had been saying that a lot lately but not really sticking to it as things have constantly continued to happen to me. My heart broke at his words knowing that he can't protect me from my family and from everything that is bound to come soon "t-thank y-you Severus, but not even y-you can protect m-me from e-everything" he's eyes filled with hurt, but he covered it with a frown "I can. and i will!" God this man could be so Stubborn. I decided to just let it pass and enjoy the moment that I was having with him" we sat there together for a while, he told me all the things I had missed over the last few weeks, how Umbridge has been tormenting all the teachers including Severus over the last few weeks and how she even went as far as to fire Trelawney. My blood started to boil hearing all of the things about the old toad, I listened to him for a while before madam Pomfrey walked into the room making Severus jump away from me. "Alright, alright visiting times are over Severus I have to ask you to leave!" She started pushing him out of the room as he tried to discuss with her to let him stay. She managed to get him out of the room at last, and I could see him shoot me a wink before the door was slammed shut in his face.

After Severus left, madam Pomfrey let me know that I will need to spend the night in the hospital wing and that I wouldn't be able to go back to my own dorm until tomorrow night. I accepted it understanding that I had a really dramatic near death experience. I lay down thinking about the image of Snape rescuing me and bringing me to the infirmary, I couldn't help but chuckle at the thought and before I knew it sleep had found me.

The next morning I decided to open up all the get well soon presents and letters from my friends, they really were very sweet. I was exited to see them again after a whole month of being unconscious. The morning went by fast since I was mostly eating my presents and reading a book that I got from Hermione. I got distracted when the door to the infirmary opened and some rather familiar faces walked into the hospital wing.. "There she is!" Said George almost screaming "how's our little sleeping beauty" added Fred making me giggle "not to bad Prince Charming" I winked at them earning a little chuckle from the twins. "Sorry I missed your Little Meeting in the Hogs Head Boys something came up" I said earning another smirk from my little joke "nothing to worry about" said Fred sitting on my bed "yeah Harry, Ron and Hermione are on they're here way now to explain everything to you" said George sitting in a chair that was next to the bed.

I talked with the boys for a while about everything that I had missed at Hogwarts while I was in my coma before the door burst open and Hermione Ron and Harry burst in. I looked up to greet them but before I got the chance Hermione practically jumped on me "I'm so happy your Okay" she whispered in my ear "oy carful there you'll crush her" of course no one here but Ron would make a remark like that in a time like this." Hermione quickly got off me and apologized "don't worry about it! I'm glad to see you again to" I gave her a reassuring smile so she wouldn't feel to bad for practically squeezing the air out of me "how are you?" Asked Harry kneeling down next to me "all good, no worries" I didn't like it when people pitied me so I'd rather play it off. "So what do you guys need to talk to me about" they gave each other weird looks as if they were deciding who was going to let me know "well as you probably already know Umbridge has been taking over this whole school and she absolutely refuses to teach us anything that will be useful in the actual Wizarding world" Hermione started I gave her a nod to let her know that I was already aware of this "yeah she even started an Inquisitorial squad" interrupted Ron "what's that?" I asked in confusion not really being sure what an 'Inquisitorial squad' could be. "She picked out a bunch of people to be in this group that help her with practically ruining the school" Ron answered I laughed at that thinking that no one would ever go up for something like that even if she picked them "who would sign up for something like that" at that they all gave each other another stare but this one was more sympathetic "okay, what's going on?" I asked the smile directly leaving my face. Harry let out a deep sigh "it's mostly your friends actually" my stomach made an awful lurk, this had to some bad joke.. "What?! Who" I started getting angrier which wasn't really fair on Ron Hermione and Harry but I couldn't help it how could the people I trusted most become something so disgusting and join a woman like that "Draco, Jade, Aylin, Blasé, Pansy, Crabbe, Goyle most Slytherins actually" At that moment all I wanted to do was scream at my friends my blood was boiling, how could they do this? How could the people that I trusted most in my life do something like this and join the woman that hurt me? "Okay well what are we going to do about this because whatever it is count me in!"
