"Cole. Cole wake up." A voice said softly. I opened my eyes just the slightest. I was blinded by the light from the sun peeking out over the mountain tops. Birds chirped. It was morning. How long did I sleep for? I looked up and there she was, and boy was I happy to see her. "Katrina?" I smiled as my eyes began to focus. "Good morning, Sunshine." She giggled. "Where did you... How did you...?" I couldn't find the right words, luckily she answered, taking away the confusion. "I couldn't leave you back there while Dyson tried to kill you. I waited nearby just in case you didn't come out." She said. "So then you know what happened?" I said my voice lowering, my smile quickly turning. Flashbacks of Damien getting stabbed filled my mind and I closed my eyes to make the visions go away. "Damien came and saved you. He killed Dyson and got you out." Katrina said smiling. I looked at her. I didn't have the heart to tell her. "Where is he anyways? I can't wait to see him, I'm so glad he's alright." Katrina said looking around the mountain into the trees. "Damien's gone Katrina." I said suddenly. I couldn't look at her when I said it. She looked at me and her face turned. "What do you mean gone, Cole? He killed Dyson. You guys got out. You killed Dyson." She said, trying to deny the fact that he was gone. "No, no, no. You don't get it. Damien is gone. Dyson stabbed him right in the heart, the knife he had was something made for people like us. It was a setup. Dyson knew that if he stabbed Damien right before Damien killed him, Damien would go down with him. He knew that if he at least killed Damien that he wouldn't have lost completely. I'm sorry Katrina, I did everything I could." I said, taking her hand. She jerked away and stood up. She held back tears, I knew that she was hurt so I let her go. "We better get moving. There isn't much further to the safe haven. Only a few miles after we get to the bottom." She said starting to walk. I stood up and ran after her. "That's all you have to say? Damien just died saving my life and that's all you have to say?" I said, I knew she was not alright. I knew how close her and Damien were and there was no way in hell she wasn't feeling any pain. "There isn't anything to say, Cole. Damien is gone; he died saving your life. All of this is your fault, if it wasn't for me running into you on the bus none of this would have ever happened and Damien would still be here, running things like he was supposed to be." She said. Her words stung, is that really how she felt? I was speechless; I didn't know what to say to all of that. "Now I'm getting into that portal with or without you, Cole. Come with me, I don't care. But I'm leaving." She said, and then she continued to walk off. I swallowed back the lump in my throat and followed her. All we had to do was get to the portal and then we didn't have to talk to each other after that if that was really what she wanted. If she thought this was my fault, oh well. We might have had to work together and get to the portal, but we didn't have to talk otherwise.
