My alarm clock rings. Its a piercing noise and I sit upright real quick and cover my ears. I search for my alarm clock with one hand until I find the button to turn it off. Noise, one of the few things that is intensified. I get ready for school in 5 minutes. I pick up a pair of pants laying on the floor and sniff them to make sure their clean. I throw them on, along with a graphic t shirt in my closet. I run my fingers through my hair with some purple gel on my dresser and look in the mirror for a second, then I head to the bathroom to brush my teeth. After brushing my teeth I slide down the railing and head to the kitchen. That's how I always come down the stairs. Our cleaning lady, Maria hates it when I do that because it "scuffs" up the railing. I don't care though.

"Morning dad." I say walking into the kitchen and grabbing a glass from the cabinet. I poured myself a glass of orange juice. "Morning Cole, Hey you didn't happen to hear me in my office last-night did you?" He asked me while buttering himself a slice of toast. I pause for a moment but don't look up. "No. like what? Anything important?" I say with a shaky voice. I hope that didn't give it away. "No. nothing important. Just was curious that's all." He smiled, giving me a pat on the back. "Have a good day at school, son. Work hard on your studies why don't you. Your grades are falling a little behind." He smiled and headed into his office. "Ill get right on that." I laughed. I chugged my orange juice and set my glass in the sink. I took a deep breath in and grabbed my backpack.

I'm greeted at the door by my best friend James Fourglass. He's his usual happy self. Hes been my best friend since we were 5 and hes always been by my side since. "Dude are you going to Lexis party tonight?" He asked. He was so excited. This was his first ever party hes gotten invited to. "We just broke up. No way she was going to invite me." I said. Lexi was my ex-girlfriend. She broke up with me a week ago, said she needed time to herself. It was probably one of the hardest breakups ever...actually one of the only breakups. "Well I'm your best friend. Why would she invite me if she wasn't going to invite you?" He said. His face went from happy and cheerful to sad and confused. "Dude. You guys were friends too. Just because we broke up doesn't mean you guys aren't friends anymore. Go, I don't care. I have stuff going on anyways. I cant go." I said. Which was true, I didn't have time to go to a party and hangout, I had bigger things to worry about. I had to learn how to control my gifts before it was too late. "Are you sure?" James stopped and looked back at me. "Yes James. Go have fun. You're only 16 once you know." I laughed. I gave him a pat on the back. "Okay. Just checking. I don't want you sitting at home all alone bored without your best friend." He laughed. "No hard feelings brother." I laughed as we got to school. We walked into the front doors and walked to our class. Everyone was talking by their lockers before class. The last place I wanted to be at was school. Too many noises, too many people. Too many overwhelming situations that triggered my abilities. It was getting bad fast, I wasn't able to control them anymore because I was getting stronger. Lexi was one of the few things that kept me in control. One thing I missed about her.
