I was awaken by the doorbell. Whoever it was was impatient. It took me a few moments to adjust my eyes. What time was it? I looked at my phone, it was 7:00 pm. How long was I asleep for? Then I remembered the door. I sat upright and got out of bed. I walked to my bedroom door yawning. I walked out of the room heading for the stairs. I could hear my dad talking to the person at the door. It was a man. His voice familiar. I stopped in my tracks for a moment. Why did this man sound so familiar? I slowly walked to the edge of the stairs. I could hear my dad saying something but could barely make out the words. "There is no one by the name of Cole that lives here I'm sorry. You have the wrong address." My dad said in a stern voice. "Are you sure? Can we take a look around? I really need to talk to him. It's urgent matters." The man said, I still couldn't place his voice. "Like I said, there is no one here by that name. Now if you'll excuse me, I have to be getting back to work. Have a good day." My dad said, starting to close the door. There was a sudden thud, the man had blocked the door from closing. "I said I need to speak with Cole, now if you aren't willing to get him for me, I'll be pleasured to go through you. Which way is it going to be?" It was Dyson. How did he know where I lived. I stood up. Dyson forced his way in the house knocking my dad over. "Cole, run." My dad yelled up the stairs. That's when Dyson saw me. "Get out of the house, Cole. Don't stop running. They've found you and they will kill anyone who gets in the way. Go." My dad yelled. I bolted into my bedroom and shut the door. I had to get out of here. I locked the door and moved my dresser in front of it. That would buy me some time. I packed a bag with some clothes and grabbed my phone charger. Maybe I could go to James' and hide out there. But I didn't want to put him in danger. They were coming up the stairs, I could hear them searching Luke's room. They searched dads bedroom next. The only other bedroom they haven't searched was mine. They were coming my way. I scrambled to get all my belongings together, and zippered up my backpack. I opened the bedroom and started to climb out of it. They were now at my door trying to bust it down. I didn't have much time. I climbed down the ladder when Dyson busted the door open. "Come out, come out wherever you are." I heard him say in his evil snickering voice. He sounded like a snake. I was halfway down the ladder. I had to jump or else he was going to catch me. I braced myself and turned around on the ladder. It was about 8 feet from the ground. I took a deep breath and braced myself getting ready to jump. Here we go. I jumped and hit the ground, almost losing my balance. I got up and grabbed the ladder and knocked it over. Dyson quickly looked out the window and we made eye contact for a split second. "I just want to talk, boy." He snickered. I darted down the street and turned the corner. I didn't stop running, I couldn't stop running.

My life was now in danger. I looked back but didn't see anyone coming. I slowed my pace. I had to get out of sight, or they would catch me. Were my dreams warning me what was to come? How long were they watching me for? I ran down an ally way about 5 blocks from my house. I stopped for a second and bent over with my hands on my knees. I took deep breaths trying to remain calm. I was shaking. What was going to happen to my dad? Did they kill him? I choked back tears. I had to stay calm and had to focus on the plan ahead. I had to make it safely to the refuge my dad told me about. The safe haven for seekers. It was getting dark. No way they could have followed me all the way here. I dug in my backpack for my cellphone and grabbed it out of the front pocket. I searched for James' number, my hands shaking from the adrenaline rushing through my body. The phone was ringing. "Come one James, pick up the phone." I said, impatiently waiting for him to pick up. Thoughts crossed my mind, what if they got to him and killed him? What about Lexi? "Please James, pick up the phone." I cried. "Hey, whats up?" He finally answered. I let out a deep breath with relief. "There's these guys and they broke into my house, I don't know if my dads OK or not but I ran. They're after me, they want to experiment on me. What do I do James, I don't know what to do." I said quickly, the panic getting to me. "Wait, hold on a minute. Whose looking for you? Who wants to experiment on you? Where's your dad now?" James asked, confused and full with questions. "I don't know where he is. He told me to run and to not look back. These scientists my dad told me about, they've been watching me, waiting until I got stronger. They want to experiment on me and use my gift to take over the world and to destroy cities, even countries. Some guy named Dyson." I explained. James was silent for a second. "Come over here, we'll figure it out. You'll be safe here they won't even know where you are." James said. "No James. I'm not putting you in danger. Just please take care of Lexi and tell her I love her. Tell her I'm sorry. Can you do that for me?" I asked. I held back the tears and swallowed. It felt like a lump was in my throat. "Where are you going to go?" James asked. "I can't tell you, its too risky. I'll be OK though. Thanks for being my friend James, I'll miss you." My breaths were getting heavier. It was getting harder to fight back the tears. "Cole. What are you talking about?" James was so confused. He had no idea what was going on. "Just promise me James, take care of Lexi." I forced the words out, I had to hear him promise before I hung up. This would be the last time I talked to my best friend. The last time I saw him. "I promise." James started to cry. "Goodbye, you'll always be my brother. I'll miss you." I hung up the phone. It was silent. I stood there, I didn't fight the tears anymore. They were too strong to hold back. I sat on the ground for what seemed like hours. I knew I had to keep moving before they tracked me down. I stood up and wiped the tears from my eyes. It was time to see what I can really do.
