When I woke up this time, my parents were gone and someone else had taken their place in the chair by the window.

The blinding white of the room made it difficult for me to figure out who it was until I heard their voice.

"Lexi?" Chris whispered with relief.

"Hey!" I moaned with as much enthusiasm as one could muster.

"How are you feeling?" He asked as he clutched my cold hand in his warm one.

The warmth that enveloped my hand had thawed the numb and cold feeling in my fingers.

I smiled.

"I'm doing better now that you are here."

He planted a gentle kiss on my forehead.

This was the first time he had kissed me.

Butterflies erupted in my stomach and I gasped.

"Are you ok? Did I hurt you?" He said with a lot of concern.

My laughs echoed off the walls.

"Oh my gosh, Chris. I'm not in here because I broke a leg or smashed my face into a tree or something." I continued to laugh.

"I was just shocked. That's all." I blushed.

"You have had me so worried! How's your head? What did the doctors say? How are your parents? When can you leave? Does anything hurt? Can I get anything for you..."

He continued asking question after question.

"Chris... Chris. Chris!" I managed to interrupt him.

"All I need is for you to stop and just be here with me."

He nodded.

"I love you so much, Lexi. I want you to know that." He said.

The butterflies erupted again...
