"partners"
~
"you should eat with me and my friends!" jay exclaimed, walking behind the quiet one in front of him.
chaerin looked down at her feet. she didn't know if she was comfortable with that idea. she didn't even know why jay just wanted to be so close to her. everything was confusing.
jay noticed her discomfort and sighed. he tapped her shoulder so she would stop walking and face him.
"it's okay if you don't want to," he smiled softly. "you can do your own thing, buuut if you want to talk to me i'll be in the cafeteria!"
chaerin blinked, and blinked again. how was she supposed to respond. does she just nod? say ok? she started to panic, she thought she looked like an idiot in front of him.
the boy just nodded slowly and walked away. he was walking towards the cafeteria.
"wait, jay!"
jay stopped. he felt all happy and bubbly. one, chaerin called out his name. two, she didn't sound so quiet WHICH DEFINITELY MEANT that she needed to grab his attention in a way.
he twirled around with a big smile on his face, "yess chaerin?"
"another time."
jay nodded, feeling satisfied. he walked off as chaerin made her way to the library once again.
~
chaerin and jay were back in class. chaerin had totally zoned out, probably because she was very tired and was in need of sleep or coffee.
the only thing she heard from the teacher was "working." she assumed that the class was working on something being handed out.
she looked up when the same boy put his chair in front of her desk.
"wanna be partners?"
partners? chaerin did not know what he was talking about. what would work have to do with partners?
her tiredness rose even higher when it hit her. it was partner work. was it even work? what if it was a whole project? chaerin did not want this at all.
"hellooo?? chaerin??" he waved a hand in her face, snapping her back into reality.
she just nodded. "partners.."
jay's eyes lit up. "great!" he exclaimed with happiness.
jay could tell chaerin was a bit, out of reality. so he explained the whole assignment to her, making sure she understood what they needed to do. let's just say, it took him a few tries to tell her.
"after school today," he suggested. "we could go straight to my house and start on it."
chaerin gave him a puzzled look. "we can just do it during class work periods-"
"nO- my house because um.. um.. it's less noisy."
jay awkwardly chuckled as chaerin just looked back down at her sheet of paper. jay didn't think the class was noisy at all. he just wanted to find a way to get to know chaerin better.
