"friends"
~
chaerin walked into her home, greeted with nothing but complete silence.
no one was home, as usual.
she moved in a week ago, there were still boxes everywhere. they were planning to keep everything in boxes, who knows when they would need to make another move?
she walked up the stairs, going to the room that she has been sleeping in for the past week. her bedroom.
her bedroom just had a bed, a desk, and a closet. she didn't care about decorating anything. was there a point?
she let her bag fall onto the floor, dropping her face into her pillows. she was tired.
very tired.
before she knew it, she was already sleeping.
~
"LEE FUCKING CHAERIN WAKE UP!"
chaerin jumped at the shout, making her wake up immediately. she quickly sat up on her bed, looking at the owner of the voice. her mother.
"why were you sleeping?" her mother raised an eyebrow, pointing at the backpack on the ground. "why aren't you doing your homework?"
chaerin gulped, "i was tired and-"
"you are 16 years old, tired? i should be the tired one."
chaerin glanced over to her bag, feeling another wave of tiredness overcome her. homework, grades, school. why was it so important for her to get good grades?
"i work my ass off and you aren't even doing homework because you are tired?" the older woman sassed. chaerin sighed.
"go do it, now."
her mother turned around and exited the bedroom, slamming the door on her way out. chaerin looked down at the floor.
"i don't even have homework," she whispered under her breath.
was chaerin sad? was she angry? was she disappointed? no not really. chaerin was in fact used to this treatment, unfortunately.
she laid back onto her bed, staring at the plain ceiling.
she wanted to cry, but she couldn't. she wanted to scream, but she couldn't. she was frustrated, but there was nothing she could do.
if only her sister wasn't so successful and smart, maybe her parents wouldn't be this rough on her.
she sat back up, looking straight into the wall. she covered her face, unsure on how she was feeling.
eventually, she got up, heading towards her closet to take out more comfortable clothes. she went to the bathroom, took a shower, did whatever.
staring into the bathroom mirror as the toothbrush was hanging out of her mouth. she chuckled.
she looked like her sister, but somehow her sister was still prettier. that wasn't fair, was it?
