"bond"

~

"you're going to the library AGAIN?" jay raised an eyebrow at the girl who picked up her bag from the ground.

chaerin nodded. jay never understood why chaerin went to the library during lunch periods. it sounded quite boring to the boy.

jay's eyes filled with sparkles when the thought of an idea. he immediately grabbed chaerin's wrist, running out of the classroom.

chaerin let out a gasp at the sudden contact and cardio. she didn't know what jay was doing, was he bringing her somewhere?

jay opened doors leading to stairs, very dirty ones. the two teenagers ran up and up the stairs. chaerin didn't know where they were going, but jay knew exactly where they were going.

at the top of the stairs, there was a door. jay opened the door, letting the sudden light blind the two.

the two walked on the floor they just entered. it was windy, a bit cold. but it was quiet. you could only hear a few singing birds and cars in the distance.

chaerin looked up in awe. the sky was a bright blue, a few clouds in the sky.

"the rooftop!" jay exclaimed as he waved his hands in the air. he gave chaerin a big bright smile, still catching his breath from the running.

there wasn't much at the top, but really, what would be on a rooftop?

jay sat down on the ground, chaerin sat next to him. chaerin felt a bit cold, but it wasn't that bad.

as she sat down, she felt the cool breeze brush against her face. it was calming in a way, definitely more calm than the library.

she sat down on her knees, just so she could control her skirt from flying everywhere.

jay sighed as he looked around the area, "so empty."

chaerin shrugged her shoulders. "it is a rooftop."

"no duh!"

chaerin and jay looked forwards. the clouds, the fluffy clouds that were slightly moving. that's all they saw.

"i used to come here when i wanted to be alone," the boy stated. chaerin looked at him, curious.

he chuckled as he remembered the times he was up here. "9th grade wasn't my best year, everything was overwhelming at both school and home."

"it's weird to think that it was just last year too," jay let out a chuckle, with a bit of sadness in his tone. "we're going to be in 11th grade soon."

although chaerin didn't fully know what he was talking about, she could relate to him in a way. 9th grade wasn't her best year either. did chaerin even have a best year?

the two turned to each other, making eye contact.

chaerin saw that he was a bit upset. he wasn't upset about present times, he was upset while thinking about the past.

jay saw almost nothing. there were nothing in her eyes. no sparks of happiness, not even a hint of sadness. there was nothing.
