No one's pov:
Weekend was finally over and everyone got busy with their classes. Everyone was hooked to their studies and lectures till the noon, where they would gather for the lunch in the café. To everyone's disappointment they all had seperate classes leaving only Nathan and Violet to share two lectures of finances and literature. They captured the last benches and had a lot of fun. Just like that it was noon and finally everyone gathered up in the café. Veronica was surprisingly silent the whole time. Everyone observed this.
Nathan who had now joined the group too thought of asking. "Veronica..." he mumbled. "Just Vonnie. I don't mind" she replied. "Vonnie.. are you okay?" Nathan continued. "Oh yeah I'm fine."
David glanced at her knowingly. He caressed her palm under the table smiling at her when she looked up at him. "You have to talk to her today. Okay?" he whispered in her ear. She nodded. No one pressed the topic further and went back to eating, talking here and there.Everything was fine until Urban entered the café. Morris stiffened at the arrival and stopped eating. Violet had seen this very gesture of his. She nudged him and asked if he was okay. He just glanced at the tall male that just entered the café, now filling his plate with the food. By now everyone took interest in what was happening with Morris. "He took me out yesterday...for a bike ride." he mumbled, wishing no one had actually heard him. But to his misfortune...everyone did. He looked up at everyone only to receive loads of questions and figures of excitement. "Why didn't you tell us!?" David exclaimed. "Well I wanted to..but considering the fact that he denied that it was a date even though he took me to a couple cafe...makes it tragic. So I preferred not to tell you. Sorry guys." he mumbled, emphasizing certain words.
Everyone's faces fell. They felt their heart break at their friend being so upset. "Morris..don't worry. He'll come around. Maybe he just doesn't want any relationship at this moment. We can't force him, now. Can we?" Nathan muttered comfortingly. He knew he was new to the group and yet to be close but he felt like reassuring the elder. Morris gave him a sad smile in return knowing well that the younger wasn't wrong. He nodded and spoke "let's just not think about it. I forgot to tell you guys. Did you see the notice board?" he redirected the topic. "Oh yeah. I saw that they are having a Cook off for the first time this year." Veronica beamed, feeling a little better around her friends. "I guess we all know who's gonna be the winner then." David said and everyone glanced at Violet.
She blushed at the attention and waved her hands off. Everyone knew she was a great cook explaining why Veronica never fell sick for too long. She always got soups, warm beverages and amazing hot food that kept her away from cold or cough. "Oh guys. We don't know yet. Only you three are familiar with my cooking. The entire school must be filled with better cooks." she said. "Oh shut up will you? We know it. Also Nathan is yet to have something you make. I feel bad for him." Morris said. "Why not you invite us for a dinner tonight Vi? It'd be a nice hang out. We can watch a movie too." David suggested. "That's a great idea! Let's do that Vi!?" Veronica exclaimed. Violet chuckled at her hyper friends. "Yes. Why not. I'd love to cook for you guys." she replied.
Once the lunch was over, everyone went back to their dorms tired. They all needed a nap. Nathan got a text from Skyler stating nothing but 'please come to the terrace'. It was a little scary yet desperate. So Nathan told David that he would be back in a while. Nathan took a lift to the terrace only to find Skyler eagerly waiting for the younger. This time the cigarette smell was surprisingly missing. He smelled like a mixture of musk and oceanic perfume. It was captivating. Skyler looked at the younger and pulled him closer to get him out of his thoughts.
"So...the chat was super awkward. I know. Here's the deal Nathan. I like you. Okay? I just do. I don't know why. I don't know how. But you just captured my heart in seconds. Your cries were the second most heartbreaking sounds I've ever heard in my life. It made me feel like protecting you from every single mean thing in the world out there. Please don't take me in a wrong way. I genuinely like you. Please give me a chance." Skyler didn't realize that he had ranted a lot. More than he prepared for. Nathan looked up at him with glossy eyes, looking for any hesitations the older could have. But he didn't catch any. Skyler was being honest.
