"Okay Dad- Yes- Don't worry. Okay bye." David shut his phone off after getting a call. Everyone was ready to leave the house. When David got a call from his father. "What's up baby?" Veronica asked. "Well we won't be able to go to my place this time. Mom dad are out of town for a business trip." David sighed. He wanted to meet his parents. Veronica pouted. "It's fine Davie. Next time we'll meet them. Let's go to Veronica's place then." Morris suggested. "About that-" Veronica started. "What now?" Violet asked. "My mom texted me yesterday. Dad isn't back from his trip yet. And he said he wants to be there when I go. So we might have to reschedule this time as well." Veronica was sad that she couldn't meet her parents. But she understood the desperation of her father.
"Oh it's fine. Let's go to Violet's place then. That's what's left. It's a brunch so we can leave a little late I suppose." Urban beamed. "Guys...then you might wanna change into something a bit formal-" Violet pouted. "Fine. That could be done." Skyler nodded. "Kids. You should dress up and leave for the brunch." Liam said, taking all the empty cups of coffees to the kitchen. Morris followed him as a helping hand.
Time skip:-
Everyone simply took cabs and left for Violet's house. They dressed up in a very formal and chic manner. It was around 10 AM when they left Liam's place. They were in front of a very simple yet decent home. "Well it looks like a nice home, Vi." Skyler nudged the girl who was fidgeting. "Wait till you meet the people in it." Veronica rolled her eyes. Morris and David scoffed at the remark. "L-let's just go in guys." Violet mumbled. Everyone was a bit scared of this meet. They were aware that Violet's household wasn't her favourite. The group entered the porch and rang the bell.
The door flung open revealing a woman with a stern smile on her face and a formal attire. "Welcome. Take a seat in the living room everyone. I'm Sierra Peterson. Violet's mom. I'll go call my husband." The living room was left in an awkward silence. "Now I see why you wanted us to wear such stuff." Nathan whispered in Violet's ear. The girl simply nodded. Morris and Veronica sensed the nervousness in the girl's behaviour. They both patted her back, making her give them a small smile in return.
A middle aged and short haired man entered the room with Sierra. He was surely Vi's father. "Hi. I'm Sam. We do know your names. So don't worry about it. I'd like to know more about your friendship." Sam smiled at the group. Everyone loosened up a little and talke about their dating. When the parents got to know about Morris and Urban, and Nathan and Skyler, they shared a stern look and put smile on their faces again. The room again fell in an awkward silence.
Sierra thought of breaking the tension. "Well.. Violet...you didn't have to wear such an outfit. A dress would have been better. I mean, you can't walk around wearing such blazers all the time." Violet simply nodded. Morris caught this and decided to speak up. "Auntie..I'm quite sure there's a bunch of people taking notes from Violet's fashion sense. We clearly shouldn't judge her so easily. Should we?" This made everyone look at him in awe. Sierra was indeed speechless. She nodded and got up from the seat.
"I think you should come in for the brunch." Everyone nodded and followed the woman.
The food was served on a quite formal table. With everything placed nicely. Sam took the seat at the head of the table, Sierra decided to sit to his left. Besides Sierra, Nathan and Skyler were seated, opposite to them were David, Veronica, Violet and Morris. Urban sat at the head of the table. And on Skyler's side, one seat was vacant. Everyone served each other as Sierra and Sam began to chat a little. They glanced at Violet and Veronica giggling at something. When everyone took their first bites, Sam decided to speak up. "We have thought about your marriage, Violet. I just want you to know, that whenever you want to marry, you are free to. But the person that you would marry would be someone among the ones we decide. That's our only policy." Violet widened her eyes and placed her fork gently.
"O-okay dad." She mumbled. Everyone was shocked at the extreme decision of Vi's parents. They didn't expect this to come up at the brunch. "So I hope you aren't dating anyone. Are you?" Sierra asked. "No. I'm not dating anyone mom." Violet clutched on her blazer and glanced at the hand that was placed on her thigh now. She looked up to see her soulmate with teary eyes. Violet felt her eyes getting moist as well. She felt Morris patting her back lightly.
"Ma'am I think it's necessary for you to understand that times have changed. Violet is capable of choosing her life partner-" Veronica was interrupted. "Veronica I'm sure you have known about us since a few years. Where exactly did we fall short on making it clear that we are against the idea of Violet dating? It would be better if you stay out of it." Sierra gave a stern smile at the girl.
Veronica was indeed angry to say the least. But she was held back by the statement of Nathan. "Talk about falling short on something. You fell short on becoming better parents for her." Nathan mumbled loud enough.
The table was indeed a mess in no time. Everyone began to throw aligations at the parents. Violet simply sat feeling her eyes getting blurry at the amount of tears flowing down her cheeks. She ran out to her lawn.
When she went to her lawn, she punched her chest lightly while gasping for air. She was suddenly pulled in a warm embrace in someone's chest. She looked up to see Morris and Urban hugging her tightly. Urban backhugged Morris and engulfed both of them in his embrace. Violet couldn't help but cry even more. "Calm down bun. You are safe. Hmm? Just calm down." Morris patted her head gently as Urban began to feel his eyes getting teary. "Don't worry Violet. You are not alone in this." Urban said softly, patting her back. The girl simply nodded against Morris's chest.
They stayed like that for a while when they felt multiple pair of hands around them. The trio's hugging session was suddenly then group's cuddle fest. Everyone low-key smiled due to the amount of comfort that hug gave them.
When they pulled away, they simply looked at each other. "Let's just leave this place right now." David said. Everyone nodded and left to the living room to take their luggage for the dorms.
"Where are you going?" Sam asked firmly. "Our home." Violet said coldly and dragged Veronica with her, hooking her arms in her soulmate's. Everyone smirked and left the place slamming the door.
When they came to the main road, they sighed and waited for the bus to Starlight High. "Well the brunch went shitty. No offence, Vi." Skyler sighed. "Trust me. None taken." Violet rolled her eyes as a shameless excuse to hide her tears. Everyone caught them, though. "Let's just eat somewhere else." Nathan grumbled. "How about we take some Take-out and go to the Prism of Lovers?" Morris suggested. Everyone beamed at the idea. When they got in the bus, they all agreed to first leave for the dorms to get ready and then leave for the takeout place.
A few minutes later, the septate entered the dorm lobby. Suddenly David got a call. He excused himself and left for the call. Everyone went to their rooms.

"Yes sir?""What have you decided finally, David? The team is ready to recruit one member to the project. Have you decided yet?"
"Sir...about that-"
"I know what you are implying. But David, it's either that or your career. Are you ready to give up on your career?"
"No sir... But it's difficult."
"Choose wisely David. I'm counting on you."
"I'm in sir."
"No back offs. Tyler! Write David's name in the mail. I'm glad you took this decision, David."
"Thanks sir."
David sighed as he cut the call off. He went back to the dorms with a lot of thoughts at once.~what was the call about?
