Normani's eyes opened with a smile appearing on her face. She looked over to her left where her girlfriend's body should be, but she wasn't in bed. Today is their anniversary and Mani couldn't wait to see what Dinah had planned. Normani threw the covers off of her warm body and climbed out of bed rushing over to the door. Downstairs she could hear the voice of her girlfriend, Dinah, as she was on the phone. Mani walks out of the room, down the hall, and the staircase. "Yes, Dylan..I'll be at the basketball court in a little bit. I'm just making me a quick protein smoothie." Normani raised an eyebrow listening in on Dinah's conversation. "Why would she be going to the basketball court when today's our anniversary?" Normani questioned herself as she walked towards the kitchen. Dinah poured the smoothie she just made into a cup. "I'll see you when I get there," Dinah says when she looked over her shoulders to see Normani was awoken. "I got to go." She told Dylan. "Okay," Dylan said as the call ended. Normani crosses her arms. "Uh, hey...you're about to go hang out with the boys?" Normani asked walking to the countertop. "Yeah. Dylan invited me to play with them for a little bit. I won't be long." Dinah confided with a nod. Normani could tell that Dinah didn't know what today was. She sighed. "You know what, go ahead...have fun." Normani turns around and heads out of the kitchen.
Confused, Dinah followed behind her. "Did I say something wrong?" She questioned noticing Normani wasn't happy with the fact she was going out with her friends. She didn't remember if they had anything planned for today. Normani turns around and placed her hands on her waist. "You truly don't know what today is?" She questioned. Giving Dinah another chance to redeem herself. Only for Dinah to raise an eyebrow. "No....?" That made Normani angry as she stormed away. "Normani wait!" Normani went upstairs in their room closing and locking the bedroom door. Dinah chased after her, knocking on the door. "Normani...please open the door." Normani sat on the unmade bed as tears fell down her cheeks. She looked down at her hands. "I thought this day was supposed to be special to the both of us. How did she forget our anniversary?" She thought to herself as she heard Dinah try to open the door. "Mani! Come on. If we had something planned for today, we can do that instead. I'll call Dylan and tell him we can meet up another day." Dinah says placing her head on the door only to hear Normani sniffling. "Just leave me alone..." Normani mumbled. "Mani please...." Dinah tried opening the door. "Just go have fun with your friends Dinah..." Normani wipes away her tears, sniffling. Dinah could hear that she's crying but she had a door in between them so it's not like she could come inside and see what the problem was, so she just left.
Normani heard the door open and close, the car engine being turned on, and the car pulling out of the driveway. She sat there looking at the floor, wondering how Dinah can say she was her "everything", but she forgot the day they became a thing. A date that should be important to both partners if they truly loved one another. She called up her friend and vented to her. "Woah woah woah...she forgot today is your anniversary? Oh, hell nah. Where she at so I can go beat her ass." Victoria says. Normani lays on her bed. "It doesn't even matter anymore, Vic." Victoria rolled her eyes. "Bullshit. It does matter. It's supposed to be special day for the both of you, not just one of you." Normani rolled on her stomach. "I know but there's nothing for me to do. She's out with her friends and I feel like just sleeping in. I woke up in the best mood but now. I just want to be left alone..."
Dinah arrives at the basketball court and starts to play with Dylan and the others. It was going well; they played several rounds before Dinah would go over to the bench to see if Normani called or texted and to take a sip of Gatorade. Dylan did the same sitting beside her. "Hey, I've been meaning to ask-- isn't today your anniversary?" He asked. Dinah shook her head, making a confused face. "No, I don't think so...why?" She asked. Dylan gave her the straightest face, how did he remember, and Dinah didn't. "Yes, it is. Are you two at it or something?" He asked again. "No, we are fine. What are you getting at Dylan? Spit it out." He takes a sip out of his water bottle, wiping his mouth off with his shirt, looking back at her. "It just hit me that today is your anniversary and you're out here playing basketball and not spending time with your girl. You're telling me she didn't mention it, or get upset at you today because you left?" Dylan raised an eyebrow. He knew a little about Normani and he knew she would've said something or at least get upset to see Dinah thought today was a normal day.
Dinah sat there thinking about this morning and how Normani did get upset she was leaving, and she even cried. She thought about it some more, pulling her phone out and looked at her lock screen where a picture of them was visible along with her notifications, the time, and the date. Soon it smacked her hard in the face. Today was their anniversary and she forgot and was out playing basketball with her friends and not showering her girl with love. "SHIT!" Without saying a goodbye, Dinah jumps up from the bench running to her vehicle. Dylan watched shaking his head going back to the court.
"How could you forget you idiot!?" Dinah groans speeding off heading to the mall nearby Normani's house to do some shopping. "Uh, it's the couch for me tonight. I can't believe my own friend had to remind me of a date I should know by hard!" Dinah beats on herself feeling bad. She didn't do this on purpose. After arriving at the mall, she headed to Normani's favorite stores buying a few things-- smell goods, candles, sweatshirts, etc. Just anything I knew would cheer her up. After the shopping spree, I headed to her favorite food place, got us some food, and then zoomed all the way home.
"I hope she doesn't kill me...lord please be with me when I walk into this house." I prayed out loud. "Well, I'll leave you alone but if she doesn't show up within an hour, I'm coming and getting you. I don't want you to be stuck in that room crying all day." Victoria says. Normani sniffles laying down on the bed, wrapping her arm around her favorite teddy bear. "Okay...talk to you later." The call ended. She looks at her phone not seeing any calls or messages from Dinah. She sighed and just watched tv to pass time, trying to clear her thoughts. She really wanted to go to that basketball court and choke slam Dinah's ass on the ground. While she was thinking about the beat down, she wanted to give Dinah-- Dinah pulls up in the driveway and parks. Dinah quickly jumps out of the car and grabs all the stuff out of the car trying to everything at once. Somehow, she did it without dropping anything. The lord was really with her right now. It's what she needed. Normani got caught up in her thoughts she didn't even notice Dinah arriving or coming inside the house. Which is bad because what if that wasn't Dinah? Oh well. Dinah's tall ass was out of breath from moving so damn fast, but she knew she was in TROUBLE and her life was on the line. She approached the stairs knowing she had to still be in their room since she wasn't in the living room. "All these darn steps.... gosh" She mumbles going up them. Then is when Normani heard someone coming up stairs. She sat up quickly, staying quiet wondering who that could be. She slowly opens the nightstand dresser grabbing her taser turning it on. Dinah approached the door and went to open it. Normani stood up and got ready to attack. As soon as the door flew open, Dinah walked in and without really looking she tased her. "OW WHAT THE HELL!" Dinah shaked as she fell to the ground in pain. All the items she did have was now on the floor. Normani's eyes widened turning the taser off, tossing it to the side. "DINAH!? I'm so so sorry" She tries to help the girl up. Dinah was in pain but got onto her feet with Mani's help. "Damn...I know you're mad at me, but you didn't have to tase me" Dinah rubs her side sitting onto the bed. "I didn't know you were here... and that wasn't get back at all." Normani sits down beside her looking at the girl whine in pain. Mani frowns because she didn't mean to. She sighs looking down at the ground when she noticed the bags on the floor. Her head lifted up and looked at Dinah again "Is this all for me?" Dinah nods. "Yeah...look, I know I forgot but it wasn't on purpose. Dylan brought it to my attention, so I dropped everything and got you a few things. 1) because you deserve it. 2) I messed up. 3) why not? I hope you can forgive me, Mani." Dinah looks over at Normani who looks at her. She acted like she was thinking about her answer until she chuckled softly, nodding her head. "I forgive you this time. Only because I just tased you." She teases Dinah who rolls her eyes.
Normani looked into the bags at all the shit Dinah bought her. A smile on her face. She had new clothes, smell goods, etc. She loved when Dinah would shower her with things. Don't get her twisted, that wasn't the only thing she liked and it's not like she was all about material things. However, it's nice to get gifts from time to time. Surprisingly the food was fine, so they changed the movie or tv show Normani was watching to something else. "Thank you for the gifts baby. I appreciate it." Normani says. "No problem love. Happy Anniversary." Dinah leans in giving Normani a kiss on her lips.
