Chapter 4: They could sleep through a hurricane

Me? I'm dishonest, and a dishonest man you can always trust to be dishonest. Honestly. It's the honest ones you want to watch out for, because you can never predict when they're going to do something incredibly... stupid.

                                 -Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp)

 “I’m here” Hazel yelled

I hear her slam the front door shut and run up the stairs like a man on a mission.

“Don’t run Hazel, you are going to fall!” I hear Caydon yell from somewhere downstairs.

No more he got the words out of his mouth, she tripped on the top step and fell face first on to the floor. I just roll my eyes at her, she always falls onto the steps.

“I‘m fine” she yells.  “Son of a perra, those maldito steps they always joder get me. When I get older I plan on living in a 1 story house and I’m going to avoid steps at all cost!” I hear hazel mumbling to herself as she comes into my room.

I can’t help but laugh; she says that gravity hates her. I just tell her Mother Nature just uses her as test subject to make sure gravity is still turned on, and is just happens to be when she uses the steps.

Caydon and Lizzie both agree with me on that one.

“Are you okay Hazel?” I ask her, trying not to laugh my butt off, I failed miserably. That earned me a slap from my loving best friend.

“No, your loco culo steps keep making me fall onto my face every maldito time I use em. You need to get them freaking fixed and A-S-A-P.”

“There is nothing wrong with our steps, like I say; Mother Nature is just testing gravity again. Come one we need to start getting ready.”

“Hey I’m here, sorry didn’t get sooner. I was onto the phone with my ma, she says hi as well.” Lizzie says as she walks into my room and throws her duffle onto the floor by my couch and takes a seat in the bean bag.

“That’s okay chica, did you both bring clothing for tomorrow? We’re staying at Cam’s.” I say while finishing up packing my bag.

“Yep, hey is it just me or did Caydon seem a little ticked off earlier??” Hazel says while plugging in her straightener

“Yeah I noticed that. I know this morning he seemed stressed, I asked him what was up an he said that it was just the football schedule.” I say while looking through my closet for a nice outfit for tonight.

“Hmm, maybe we are just reading too much in it. Alright girls let’s get ready!” Lizzie exclaims jumping up from the floor.

“Before you to ding dongs go any farther, Caydon wanted me to remind y’all the rules.”

Hazel just rolls her eyes and Lizzie shakes her head but gestures for me to continue.

“The rules are, and I quote: ‘One, no drinking and driving. Two don’t accept an offered drink, and we have to stick to canned slash bottled drinks and we must wipe off the tops before we drink it. Three no going off alone and lastly we have to keep our cell’s onto us in case the need arises and we have to leave.” I say ticking each one off on my fingers mentally going through in my head to see if I missed anyone.

“yes ma’am” Hazel says in a mock salute and Lizzie just laughs at her sarcasm.

“Get it, got it, good!” I cheer happily and get ready.
