Chapter 3: I’d assume that you escaped an asylum
One word love; curiosity. You long for freedom. You long to do what you want to do because you want it. To act on selfish impulse. You want to see if the grass is truly greener on the other side. One day you won't be able to resist.
-Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp)
“Mommy, Daddy I’m home” I yell from the front door as I started to take off coat and boots. I just gotten home from school, it’s the last day before winter break.
I wonder where they are at.
CRASH
That sounded like it came from upstairs. I run up the stairs to see what that was.
I froze in my tracks and let out a blood curling scream. All of sudden a cloth covered hand is clamped over my mouth and it’s making it hard for me to say awake.
Just before I black out I hear someone say “I’ll be back, don’t forget.”
“Grace, wake up!” I hear a voice say.
I shoot straight up outta bed frantically looking around me. I turn on my lamp by my bed to see a shirtless Caydon looking at me with a look of concern. I sigh in relief.
“Are you okay? I heard screaming and thought something happened so I came in to find out.” He says looking at me, now is the time I realized that I probably look like crap. I’m only in a pair of pink boxer shorts with an oversized black ACDC tee-shirt on. If it was any other time I would laugh.
“Just a bad dream…” I mutter biting my lip to keep myself from crying like a baby.
“C’mere, its okay to cry princess you’re safe with me.” Caydon says while pulling me closer to him and wrapping his arms around me. I rest my head against his warm bare chest and wrap my arms around his waist and just cry.
After about 30 minutes of me balling like a baby I am, I pull way and say “sorry for crying all over you like a baby.”
“I don’t care about that, care to tell me why you were screaming bloody murder?” he says handing me a tissue.
I blow my nose and shake my head because I don’t trust my voice.
“Want me to stay with you, princess?”
“Please” I whisper. I scoot over in my king size bed and pat the spot next to me.
He stands up and walks around the foot of the bead and craws into the side next to me. I lay down next to him and rest my head onto his shoulder while he wraps his arms around me.
“What happened?” he asks after a while of lying there in the silence, while I try to calm back down.
“My parents” I mutter trying to keep from crying again.
“What about them?” he says looking at me whilst I look at the ceiling like it’s the most interesting thing in the world.
“When they died”
“You don’t have to tell me if you don’t want too princess. I understand.” He says brushing the hair out of my face.
I just ignore him and continue on speaking.
“I just gotten home from school, the front door was cracked open a bit and I just thought that maybe it wasn’t shut fully, I yelled out to let them know I was home, like I do every day. Then while I was taking off my jacket and shoes I heard a loud bang from upstairs. So naturally I did what any other 10 year old would do, go find out what happened. Probably the biggest mistake of my whole life, I run up the steps as fast as I could and do you know what I seen?” I rhetorically ask.
