He sure is popular, Gilly thought, angling a distance away from the crowd of squealing RLWs. Jax was good for distractions, a discovery that could be of use again. The boy had refused to be bait for the rest of the group so they could sneak away to initiate their mission at the request of Devin, who was out somewhere in Enchantasia with her other friends.

"Look as much as I have that princely charm, it can get exhausting y'know!" Everyone had groaned at the remark. They had no choice, they needed to keep the RLWs at bay to sneak in, and Tessa and Raza were both obsessed with him. Gilly compromised that if anything were to happen like a possible invasion or enemy attack (they often got those during balls and parties, not fun anymore), Jax would be the first one to spring into action.

While the others were left in the ballroom, Kayla and Gilly immediately scored for the archives. To be honest, Gilly did kind of feel irked to see Jax get a lot of attention. Not that she wasn't used to it, he was a prince for fairy's sake! One with a very striking appearance too, but never mind that. Some people just got on her nerves, particularly that Princess Genevieve, the fancy-shmancy girl she met a while back when Jax went to RA for a while. She didn't dare bring up what she was thinking to Maxine or Kayla again after they had teased her for it. Saying she was "growing up" or "finally being aware". Her eyes practically circled back into her skull with the eye-rolling.

Kayla had flown ahead to check for guards and swooped in to peek at Gilly to signal her that the coast was clear. Depending on how long Jax could distract the RLWs, the two girls needed enough time to find the former fairy godmother's hidden spell in one of her files to stop the gargoyles from coming in. Even from the inside, she could hear their chitters from the high-rise windows. Thank Grimm Ollie brought radishes in case things would get messy.

Click! The door to the archives opened. Kayla hovered with a key in hand.

"Where did you get that?" Gilly asked.

Kayla grinned."Invisibility, Gilly, though it only lasts for a few minutes. Snagged it from a guard a while back."

Cool. Her fairy powers were still getting there. Hopefully, she could achieve that feat some day. "Anyone in there?" she asked.

Kayla shook her head. Good. Satisfied that no one would sneak up on them, Gilly grabbed the handle and pushed the door open. The archives had tall alcoves and cabinets and shelves, looking similar to a library. The decorative columns were made of sleek wood and were polished as if they were new. Scrolls and records in the alcove were kept behind glass panes with ornate gold decals on the glass. A lone mosaic window to let in light was covered by a curtain. It smelled of old books and clean lemon; the room was probably cleaned daily to uphold the regality of the academy. Gilly noticed that the shelves were separated by the most recent date and in alphabetical order.

Gilly took out her crystal ball to give light. It was mainly used for illumination, but you could communicate with anyone too, like the compact mirror. Just that the range was a lot smaller than the compact mirror's. Oddly enough, it was more of a mirror than the actual compact mirror. Figures since it was specially made by Professor Harlow.

"Kayla, Olivina was here for the past three years. Let's check the first set only, we don't want to spend a lot of time in here." Kayla nodded and flew away to the left corner Gilly approached the shelf in front of her.

The spines were new, threaded with gold or other shiny threads. Gilly prodded through the books. There was a nagging feeling in her head. Now that she thought of it, if Olivina were to hide a spell she wouldn't hide it that easily out in the recent records.
