Stand name: [Double Rainbow]

"Do you think she's alright Y/N? What if they are drinking, or doing drugs." Your wife, Foo was anxiously tapping her fingers on your couch's armrest. She'd been worrying herself sick as soon your daughter had left the house.

You held her hand in an attempt to calm her. "It's a sleepover, honey; not a party. Fia is going to be fine." She was looking at you, seemingly unconvinced. "And if anything does happen, I told her to call us."

Being invited to a sleepover with the most popular girls in school had been a point of pride for your daughter. When day arrived, she was so excited that she could hardly wait. She'd gotten packed first thing in the morning and spent the rest of the time before it was time to leave wondering what they would do.

"You're right, she's probably fine." She sighed, "I've never been to a sleepover, so I guess I'm just a little wor-"

Both of your gazes snapped to where your phone buzzed on the coffee table. The brightly lit phone screen displayed the picture you'd set for Fiona. Quickly, you answered and put her on speaker.

"Mom?" She sounded on the verge of tears and it sent your heart racing.

"Is there something wrong sweetie?"

You could hear distant banging and your daughter bite back a sob." I need to get out of here, I locked myself in one of the rooms, but they're trying to get in."

You didn't have to even hear an explanation. In an instant, you were getting your things in the car and speeding off down the road. In the passenger seat, Foo was fidgeting nervously in her seat. You turned on the radio, but it did nothing to ease the tension. What could be happening to your daughter?

You parked in front of the house just a figure crawled out of one of the windows. As they approached, you discerned that it was Fiona. You opened up the car door, and in the yellow, automatic light, you could see she'd been crying. Her long was in her face, her eyes were puffy, red-rimmed, and watery; her cheeks were flushed and wet with tears. Every detail of it broke your heart a little more. You immediately got out of your seat and embraced your daughter. She shook in your arms and it reminded you of when she'd get herself hurt as a child.

"What happened Fia?"

For a moment, she struggled to respond. "Well, it started with them ranking how pretty everyone at the sleepover was. I got the lowest score. After that, they started pointing out everything that was wrong with me. They told me I was annoying, stupid, ugly, and unlovable. They suggested I get a haircut so I don't look as hideous and started chasing me with scissors."

You rubbed soothing circles on her back as she continued to sob. "Don't ever believe them Fiona, you're entertaining, smart, a beautiful young woman, and so very worthy of love."

You noticed that Foo had come to stand behind her and put an arm on her shoulder. Double rainbow was brushing the hair away from her face and wiping more tears away. "We're both very proud of you." The shaking seemed to finally subside as the last tears were shed.

"And, for the record, your hair looks fine. It's great just the way it is, like the rest of you." That got her to smile just a little. "Don't let your opinion of yourself be based on how others see you." You wanted to get back at those girls for tormenting Fiona, but you knew that getting back at them would do nothing to help Fia. A plan began to take form in your mind.

"Hey, I bet we could host a way better sleepover." That got her to smile just a little and it gave you hope that she wouldn't let this experience haunt her.
The hug ended and she got into the back while you began to call a her friend's parents.

It was still early into the night, and, you might have a shot at getting them all together. To your surprise, all her friends were free and you drove off to the supermarket to get some snacks. Fia seemed to be cheering up as you all sang along to the song playing through the stereo. When you were done with your trip, you probably had enough chips, frozen pizzas, ice cream, and soda to feed a small army. Since there was going to be bunch of teenagers though, you predicted that it would all be gone by morning. After dropping everything off at home quickly, the three of you were off to each house to pick everyone up. By the time the last person was picked up, the minivan was packed to full capacity (plus one friend who'd decided it'd be funny to clamber into the trunk) all requesting which song to play next. Without you even noticing it, Double Rainbow had manifested itself and had used the overhead light in the car as a kind of party light; changing the color of light it emitted every few seconds.

"To get everyone excited." It said, smiling. "The child seems much happier now."

Keeping in mind that not everyone in the car could see your stand, you simply nodded in agreement.

The plan seemed a success as you and Foo sat in the kitchen to be out of the way of everyone else. The bright smile and animated speech of your daughter told you that she was feeling better already. It made your heart light, knowing that as long as Fiona knew who her real friends were, she'd be fine. The hour was getting late though, and you were ready to retire to bed. The two of you walked back out to the living room to tell the teenagers that you were going to bed. Before you could turn to leave the room though, Fia ran up and gave you both a hug.

"Thanks Moms, I really appreciate this."

"You're very welcome. Now, go and have fun with your friends." She left your arms and you watched her return to her seat on the couch. Man, they really grow up fast.

In the bedroom, you settled in for the night with Foo.

"You think they'll be getting any sleep to night?" She asked, snuggling up close to you underneath the covers.

You wrapped your arms around her and chuckled, "Probably not."

Author's note: This took a little while; mostly because of how busy I've been this week, but also because I had a completely different ending in mind for this originally. It didn't feel right though, so I basically ended up scrapping it and writing the new ending. I would like to apologize for double rainbow not doing much in this. Anyways, I had a fun time writing this and I hope this was as entertaining to read as it was to wright.
