Somehow you'd managed to fall head- over- heels in love with Yukako despite her obvious infatuation with somebody else. It had started so simply with just noticing little things. The pretty way her hair cascaded wildly yet never obscured her face, her cute smile, the confident way she held herself. They were little observations but soon you were going out your way to talk to her, blushing when she said something nice to her.

One morning as she approached you she seemed... different. She just seemed a little off.

"Are you doing okay?" You asked, steering the two of you to sit down on a nearby bench. She hunched herself over, black waves blocking you from seeing her face. Something must've happened to her and you wanted to do all you could to help her. Tentatively, you reached out and soothingly rubbed her back. You were too focused on her to think about the painful feelings inside of your heart. Her chest rose and fell deeply before she was sitting up looking to you. There were tears in her eyes, yet to fall but welling up and barely not spilling from her eyes. The want to wipe them away was undeniable. Gently, you let your thumb catch them.

"I broke up with Koichi." A soft smile etched itself across her slightly blushing face. Your stomach dropped, you knew the lengths she'd gone to for a chance with him, she would never just give that up. With your mind swirling with terrible ideas of what could've happened your hands moved to the sides of her face.

" I swear Yukkako, whatever he did to you I'll make sure he pays for it. Nobody hurts you and gets away with i-" She placed a finger on your lips to stop you and you realized how close together you were.

"He didn't do anything to me Y/N, he was incredibly kind to me. I thought I could redirect my love onto somebody else and be happy but he wasn't you."

Your mind stuttered on those last few words and you asked. "What do you mean?"

"I thought that I could deny my feelings for you and just transfer them onto somebody else. I thought it would stop all the thoughts I had about you, how beautiful you look, your cute mannerisms, your voice. None of it stopped though and I couldn't go on with Koichi, it wouldn't be right to tell him I loved him when my heart wasn't in it."

You leaned forward until your foreheads were touching. "I love you too, I didn't want to tell you because I didn't want to ruin you happiness but I guess that kind of backfired." She laughed lightly and it made your heart swell with adoration.

"It's alright now, because we're here, together." Her hands came to wrap around your shoulders and bring you in even closer until your eyes closed and her lips were on yours. Your heart raced and melted all at the same time, it was like everything you'd hoped it would be and more.
