Literally nobody asked for this, but I decided to write it for fun. Making art is my biggest hobby and I hope to one day make it my carrier in some capacity, so this is my extremely niche content for literally just myself. I swear, I don't have a hand fetish.

Having finally moved in with your girlfriend after dating for a few years, you knew there would be a few things to adjust to on both your ends. Still, her frustration every time you finished working on a piece for the day you found both confusing and a little amusing. After so many years of working as a professional artist, you didn't even bat an eyelash when your hands were smudged all over with graphite, stained with ink, or splattered with paint. Getting messy was just part of the gig, something that was inevitable no matter how much you tried to avoid it. Still, she always made a fuss with how little care you took to keep your hands clean.

You leaned back in your chair, finally finished with your latest piece just as you heard the door open. Standing up and stretching, you waited for your girlfriend to walk into your workroom, just as she did every day without fail.

"How was your day Y/N?"

You turned to face your girlfriend and took a few steps closer to her. "It was fine, how was yours honey?"

The soft smile that donned her face curved down. "Tiring and way too long." She replied flatly.

Gently, you brought your hand up to cup her cheek. It brought back that sweet smile; and you took a moment to appreciate the sight. The way she nuzzled into your palm made your heart melt. She was so pretty even in her business attire. Her wavy blonde hair that you admired so much was still in the tight, business-like bun, and her makeup was as flawless as it had been when she left that morning.

For a little while, she stayed like that, happily indulging in the feeling of her palm against her cheek. Then, suddenly, she pulled away and took to inspecting your graphite-smudged hands.

"Y/N, we've talked about this. She sighed.

"I know, it's inevitable in art though, you're just going to get messy." You smiled, knowing that she wasn't mad.

"I just want to make sure you're taking good care of yourself, I know you can tend to forget about everything when you work. I still remember when you were working on a special commission and you nearly forgot to eat for the entire day. And how many times have I caught you sipping on paint water and not your tea?"

you laughed a but, "I guess I do tend get in the zone a bit... Oh!" You rushed to pick up your finished piece and show it to your girlfriend. "I was feeling really inspired and made this today."

She seemed a little surprised as her eyes scanned over the piece. It had seemed fairly simple on paper, just a pair of hands holding onto a bouquet of flowers. As any artist knows though, drawing hands is not such a simple task. After quite a bit of toil though, you felt that they looked pretty good, and were even a little proud of how they turned out. Your girlfriend seemed to be enamored with them too as she analyzed every little detail of them.

"Those are your hands."

"What do you mean?"

Her eyes went from the drawing to look back at you. "They're modeled after yours, they have all the same proportions and even have the same little scars as yours."

"I guess, I just used them for reference."

She took one of your hands to inspect it, her gaze going back and forth between your hand and the piece; seemingly enraptured.

"They remind me of the hand's of the Mona Lisa, they look beautiful." Her focus snapped back to the dark grey smudges across your fingers and that slightly disgruntled expression returned. "Now lets get you to the kitchen and clean you off, we can't cook dinner together when your hands are dirty."

She kept hold of your hand and while you put the piece away before leading you to the kitchen. Really, it was kind of cute how much she cared about your hands. She turned on the faucet and made sure the water was warm before running it over your hands. Using her favorite vanilla-scented hand soap, she scrubbed away all of the smudged graphite on your fingers. When it was done, she took a towel and gently dried them off.

What you didn't expect was your girlfriend bringing you hand up to her lips and placing a gentle kiss on your knuckles. She looked so beautiful with her eyes half-lidded and focused intently on your hand. Next, she exposed the palm of your hand and pressed a kiss there too before pulling away.

"Maybe it's okay if you keep on getting them dirty."

You chuckled, "Still, I'll try and be more mindful of smudging when I'm drawing."
