Fake Mate

I shifted and changed into a pair of shorts and a shirt that we have in small holes and inside trees. Perfect for times like this. I ran towards the pack house and busted through the doors. Everyone looked at me and started saying something, I didn't hear anything. My mind was focused on one thing. One person. Adam. "Where's Adam."

"Umm, I think he's upstairs with his mate, Alpha." said a timid voice. My face immediately softened.

"Who said that?" Everyone parted, like an ocean, and a small child, no older than 5, came out. I smiled at her and motioned for her to come to me. She obeyed and walked towards me as I got on one knee, so I was close to her height. "What's your name sweetheart?"

"Katie." she said. She had short black, silky hair. Tanned skin for playing outside, I guess. Very skinny and small for a werewolf child of her age. She had dark brown eyes. You could tell she was Asian or Lao by how small they were. (A/N: that was not to offend anyone. I have a lot of Lao and Asian friends so I didn't mean to make that sound racist.)

"Your 5, am I right?" she nodded her head and looked down to the floor, never once looking into my eyes. "Where are your parents? I think I would remember having such an adorable child in my pack." I said softly. I don't want to scare her anymore than I already have.

She looked up, for the first time, and looked into my eyes and gave a little gasp. "You're not my mommy?" she said. Tears formed fast into her eyes and started to spill, slowly.

'What happened?' I asked James.

'Adam, Jae, Oliver, and I found her crying next to two people who I'm guessing are her parents. We brought her and her parents back and the pack doctors are doing everything they can to bring them back.'

'If they don't make it, then...I'm adopting her. She already said I look like her mom and my wolf feel attached to her.' I smiled at Katie sadly. "I'm sorry sweetie, but I'm not your mommy. I'm Alpha Turner. Do you know what an Alpha is?" She nodded her head. "Good. Your mommy and daddy are hurt, so until they get better would you like for me to take care of you?"

"Yes Alpa." I smiled at her again. That was cute how she said Alpa instead of Alpha.

I stood up and she grabbed my hand in her small one. We walked up the steps towards Adams room. We got there and I was about to open the door when Katie got my attention. "Alpa, I know mommy and daddy probably won't make it. If they don't will you be my new mommy?" My wolf howled in happiness and my heart swelled. She wants me to be her mom. I'm might be a mom.

'We are a mom. They won't be able to make it. I just talked to their wolves and there are too many problems and too much blood lose for them to recover.' said my wolf. She cut the link and I couldn't reopen it. I smiled down at Katie, telling her yes, then knocked on the door. Adam opened it and smiled.

"Hey, Alpha. Come in."

"Actually, you come with me. I have things to discuss with you." I replied, using my Alpha command.

"Ok. Where?"

"Follow me." I picked Katie up and sat her on my hip, I don't want her to fall down the steps. We got down stairs to the front door and I put her down. "Shift." I told Adam. He did as he was told then sat there, waiting for me to give him an order. "Katie, when I shift I want you to get on my back and hold of really tight, okay? Can you do that for me?" She smiled big and nodded. I shifted and laid down so she could climb on. She grabbed onto my fur and buried her face in it. 'Adam. Follow me, and keep up.'

'Yes, Alpha.'

We ran towards the boarder and I linked with Quinn. 'Quinn, we are coming back to your territory so c-'
