Hiding The Alpha

Katie POV

I am in denial. Going through a mid-life crisis you could say.

“What do you mean you aren’t my real parents!?”

“Katie, your parents died when you were 5 during a fight. Remember the story of us I told you?” I nodded. It was the saddest and romantically action story I’ve ever heard. “Well, that’s the fight they died in. I heard a bang on the door and high pitched yelling.

Kenneth and Delaina.

“What about Kenneth and Delaina?”

“They are our actual kids. Kenneth will have the Alpha title of the pack.”

Angered, sad, and hurt that they kept this from me and my parents were gone I stood up abruptly, the chair I was sitting in flying back with the force. “So I’m just the fucking outsider, aren’t I!?”

“Katie.” Dad- I mean- Alpha Quinn said in a low voice.

“No!”

“Calm-““Don’t tell me to calm down! How could you hide this from me!? Something so big!?” Tears spilled down my face as I chocked on a sob.

I turned away from them and walked out. As soon as I opened the door, Kenneth and Delaina ran in to sit on Alpha and Luna’s lap. I felt a wave of jealousy rush over me and I slammed the door shut, running to my room.

‘Some birthday this was.’ I thought. I changed into some shorts and a tank top and put on my running shoes then headed out. I saw Kole, my best friend, walking out of his room just as I was.

“Hey, what’s wrong with the birthday girl?”

“It’s nothing.” I whispered. Kole turned 15 three months ago and I turned 15 today. Surprisingly, he shifted a year earlier than expected. “Want to go for a run with me? I need to clear my head.” He nodded and went back in his room to change into some basketball shorts.

When we got out the door we both started jogging towards the woods. As we did this I told him everything that I was just told not 20 minutes ago.

“That’s a lot to take in.” He said. We sped up our run.

“Yeah, I know.” Suddenly, my head started pounding. I shook it off as thinking too much.

That was until my arm snapped. I screamed in agony and Kole stopped and ran towards me.

“Katie! What happened!? Are you ok!?” My legs snapped and it seems as if my bones where taking a new shape. My entire body was on fire and in a burning and unbearable pain.

I felt two hands under me, as if to pick me up, and the pain started to slowly subside; but not all the way. I found myself moving impossibly closer to whoever this was. Once the pain was gone, I opened my eyes and everything was clear. I looked around until my eyes landed on two gorgeous green eyes that held the scent of strawberries and chocolate. ‘Mate!’ I heard someone inside my head yell.

I opened my mouth to tell Kole but all the came out was a bark. He seemed to have snapped out of whatever it was before running behind a tree and coming back with a t-shirt and shorts. “Focus.  Think of your human side. Everything. Your tan skin, black silky hair, beautiful brown eyes, gorgeous body. Think of it and the change will follow through.” He told me. I did what he said and found myself human again.

Also naked.

I blushed as Kole handed me back the clothes. “So, you’re my mate.” He said smiling. I smiled back and we talked about random things until we reached the pack house. It was already dark outside.

Perfect.

“I’m going to go take a shower. Meet me back here?” I nodded and he kissed my cheek before running upstairs.

I ran to my room and grabbed two matching suitcases and a back pack. I packed everything I would need. Clothes and toiletries then brought them down stairs. I went in the kitchen and packed a bunch of food and went to Alpha’s office stacking up on cash.

I took the keys to his 2013 Escalade EXT and packed up my bags. I hopped in and sped out the drive way. I took my phone and called the son of Alpha Rob and my best friend.

“Hey.” He said, answering the phone.

“Hey, I was wondering if I could stay with you and your pack. You guys haven’t left yet, right?”

“We are leaving tomorrow. Can I ask why you requested this all of a sudden?”

“My parents aren’t my parents and I kind of need to think. I found my mate today, though. It’s Kole. I left him there.”

“Wait, you shifted?” I put in the address of the hotel they were staying at in the built in gps.

“Yes. I and Kole both shifted at 15.”

“Then you both belong in this pack. We are a pack of Dark Wolves and have all shifted at 15. Where are your real parents?”

“Dead.” I whispered. ‘Control yourself, Katie.’ I told myself.

“I’m sorry, but you and Kole, having changed at 15, belong to this pack. Technically.”

“I can’t take him away from his family and friends. I wasn’t leaving anything or anyone but him. If I did this to him then he would be leaving more than just one person.”

“Well, you are welcomed to join our pack. If they come for you, we will fight and keep you. Us Dark Wolves have to stay together. Understand?”

“Yes.”

“Well, welcome to the Night Pack.”

I have both planned out.

If this wins it will be called The Dark Wolves.

If the other wins it will be called Mated To A Dark Wolf.
