It was the first official day of the fall term at Republic City University. Orange leaves were littered across the crisp lawn that spread across the campus courtyard.

A handful of people from high school had recognized the group, mostly as the 'group who saved their school.' It seems that they were pretty well known in Republic City, too.

Sokka wore a jean jacket over his favorite shirt with some jeans; he seemed to be typing furiously away on his phone. Aang was wearing an dark orange sweater over a white button down shirt, his hands stuffed in the pockets of his beige cargo pants.

Zuko appeared moments later with his red varsity jacket and flaming socks, who was on the phone with his girlfriend, Mai. Suki had her short auburn hair in gentle waves, wearing a red halter top and jeans. She and Toph, who wore overalls and high tops, were deep in discussion about Toph's recent chess competition.

"Sorry I'm late!" Katara said, jogging over to her friends. She had her hair thrown into a ponytail, wearing the same ankle boots as yesterday with jeans and a floral blouse. She was furiously scrolling through her phone. Like brother, like sister.

"I don't know why, but I've gotten a schedule change last minute," she admitted, his brows furrowed.

"What did they change?" Aang asked.

She switched between tabs on her phone, scribbling out an email to her counselor. Oh, they'd hear from her about this. "I'm going into pre-med, right? And I need to take calc since I'm a bio major," Katara explained. "But Mr. Poophead refuses to teach me integrated calculus. Because I'm a girl."

"What is this, the 18th century?" Sokka asked incredulously. "Math is math. I'll be damned if Pakku gets away with this."

Katara sighed, pocketing her phone and storming across campus to the science and math building. Her friends followed suit.

Katara threw open the door to Mr. Pakku's office.

Sokka swore Professor Pakku flinched. Pakku looked up from his computer, glaring at Katara through his reading glasses, which were perched on the edge of his nose. "Yes, Miss Katara? Please knock before you enter. Or ave your parents not taught you any manners?"

"They did. But as I can tell, yours haven't," she said, walking to the front of his desk.

He clasped his hands together on top of his desk. "I won't take that to offense due to my gracious mood. How can I help you?"

"Why did you kick me out of your calculus class? I explicitly stated that I would become a doctor."

"Being a doctor is not a suitable profession for a woman," the teacher said, scanning Katara head to toe. His gaze lingered on her Water Tribe necklace a moment longer. "You should let the men take care of those jobs and get married. You are of age, after all."

Aang swore steam was coming out of Katara's ears.

She leaned forward, planting a hand on the wooden desk. "And what about you, professor Pakku? You've crossed that deadline long ago."

The professor narrowed his eyes. "I am a man--"

Katara turned around, walking out of the room. No use in arguing with someone as stubborn as a chair. "Don't worry, I'm sure admin won't let this slide."

She shut Pakku's office door behind her, seeing Aang waiting outside the classroom. "How'd it go?" he asked casually, placing a hand on the small of her back and leading her outside.

"There's nothing I hate more than double standards," she said, wrinkling her nose. "I didn't go through all that back home just for some sexist teacher to ruin it all."
