Chapter Twenty One

"Varian, what are you saying?" Eugene asked his younger friend, confused and unsure but knowing that Varian's knowledge was something best to not question.

"I believe that the sundrop and moonstone is still out there- well... parts of it. When Cassandra and Raps destroyed Zhan Tiri, the moonstone must have shattered." Varian could barely believe his own words, they sounded ridiculous and it was the only possible solution he could find.

Queen Rapunzel felt the words run from her ears and into her heart, panic rising in her. She knew Zhan Tiri was dead, she knew that Mother Gothel was dead but what she knew and what she feared didn't seem to communicate. Eugene felt her hand tighten around his.

Eugene felt anger and frustration rise within him, "It's been twenty years, why now?"

Varian shrugged, sighing as he pulled on fingers in his leather gloves. "I'm not sure, maybe it was reactivated or something... I need a little more time to think about this all." Varian Ruddiger didn't know, that made even Cassandra Ritter nervous.

"What does this mean for Corona?" Cass asked. Of course the black rocks coming back was terrifying for her but she is the captain of the guards, she doesn't have time to be terrified. "If people found out about the black rocks-"

"It would be bad," Varian nodded, agreeing with his own words. He could just imagine what would happen, people blaming Cass. He knew Rapunzel, Eugene and Cass where thinking the same thing, Cassandra would be hated by Corona all over again.

"We could explain to the people that we don't know how the rocks appeared, it's better that we tell them now before they find out on their own."

Eugene agreed with Rapunzel, though he could see by the other two's faces that did not think about it the same way, though didn't use words to express their stance on the decision.

"I was thinking about a possibility, an unrealistic possibility but I possibly none the less. Imagine if Cecelia was conceived only a few months earlier, would your sundrop genetics be passed to Cece or would it not?" Cass didn't understand why Varian was even thinking about that, an interesting question it was but unnecessary, it wasn't as if you could go back in time and answer it themself. Eugene and Rapunzel glance at each other, knowing differently. "There is no proof that the sundrop is genetic but it's a thought to think about."

"What if Cece was conceived before the battle of Zhan Tiri? Do you think that she would be the sundrop?" Eugene asked, his dark brown eyes pleading that the younger father said no but he just shrugged,

"It's a fifty / fifty chance."

Rapunzel sighed, "Guys, there is something you should know."

Cece was panicking but kept it contained- well... contained enough. She was plaiting her light brown hair while she softly tapped her foot on the marble floors outside of the meeting room. The second she escaped the freezing cold air of the outside world, Cece had looked for her parents in the throne where on of the maids- a beautiful young asian girl with a limp- had informed her that her parents were in a meeting with the  Royal Engineer and captain of guards, her heart dropped as she realised what that meant, she was too late. But would Cece even do if she wasn't too late? Nothing, her parents would still look at her.

Her loud breathing hitched as she heard the door opening and seeing the four elder adults looking at her as she was some type of alien and right now, she felt as if she was.

"Cecelia," Rapunzel breathed, her voice made Cece shiver, "Is there something you haven't been telling us?"

Cece looked down, she wanted to cry but she refused to, she was good at that, bottling it up but it wasn't until this moment that she realised just how much she had bottle. She started to sniffle but again no tears, "Mum, I don't know what's wrong with me."

Rapunzel grabbed her daughter and a warm embrace, she knew what I was like to feel isolated, different for everyone else. "Cecelia there is nothing wrong with you," Rapunzel looked her in her eyes intensely as if she was burning those words into Cece's brain.

Eugene lovely touched Cece's back, showing his support but not creating too much of a scene for stuff. "Cece, we are going to figure thing out, we've done it before."

Cece's green eyes were watery as she pulled away from her mother's arms, wishing to drive back into the warmth but she kept it together. Looking at Varian, Cass and her parents, she felt a weak smile appear on her face, "I think I can help with that."

I'm tired and it's a school night/morning but I actually really like this chapter so... it's worth it.
