Chapter 29 - Work

Wednesday, February 18th

Willow's POV

It's 5:30 and today I start my first ever job. I've just finished getting ready and I'm going to leave now, even though it's only a few minutes away, simply because I want to be early and make a good impression.

"Right mum, I'm going to head off now" I said walking down the stairs.

"Okay love, good luck" She chuckled. "Dads waiting in the car for you! He insisted he would take you" She smiled and I nodded.

I headed out and as she said, dad was sat in the car.

"Alright mate?" Dad asked as I opened the door and jumped into the car.

"Mhm" I replied.

"Are you nervous?" He asked me as he began to drive down the road.

"Yeah, this is my first job! I hope it goes alright" I said looking at the window.

It was true, I was nervous. This is my first proper job, and I don't know anyone...apart from Harvey.

"Right here we are bud" Dad said as he pulled up outside the restaurant.

Christ, that went fast. I looked at my phone and it was 5:43.

"I'll just wait a few minutes" I smiled and he nodded.

"You'll be fine, just text when you want picking up"

A few minutes went by and I thought I'd better go, although I was so scared.

"Right I'm going to go"

"Okay, you'll be fine! And don't forget to text me when you've finished! Good luck!" My dad said once more as I got out of the car and waved him good bye.

I walked in the restaurant hoping to god that Harvey wasn't working tonight, yet the first face I saw was his.

I walked into the restaurant and asked for Susie, my boss.

"Oh hello Willow, right I've just finished my shift but here is an apron for you" She said passing me a little white apron which I soon tied around my waist.

"So tonight we aren't very busy, and it's just you and Harvey on." She said walked over to Harvey.

"Harvey this is Willow, who I was telling you about, if you just shadow what Harvey does, and if you just tell her what to do it'll all be fine" She said and both me and Harvey nodded in reply.

Susie soon left and it was just me and Harvey.

"Ah look the first tables in, these are regulars, if I take their order and then you can serve it?" He asked as he walked away.

I guess that's what we're going to so then.

He soon took the order and surprisingly the food was ready pretty quickly. I served them and luckily, did not drop anything.

"It's a bit slow tonight really. So if you're bored, that's why" Harvey spoke up, obviously noticing me leaning on the counter, although the second table soon arrived.

"Yeah" Was all I replied, I didn't really know what to say.

Both the tables were soon served and cleared and again the restaurant was empty, with just me, Harvey and the few chefs.

"If we just lay the tables for breakfast tomorrow and then you can go" He said and I nodded following him.

"So, have you been up to much recently then?"

"Not really, you? Sorry about valentines day by the way" I said.

This is the main reason I didn't want to work with him, because I felt awkward about that whole situation.

"It's fine, I knew you were probably together anyways" He said walking away to get some spreads as I finished putting the cutlery down.

"Oh no, we're not together" I replied trying to sound reassuring, although it came out all rushed which probably made it obvious I was lying.

"I won't tell anyone, don't worry" He said as we finished laying up the last table.

"You can go now if you like" He said and I nodded, undoing my apron.

I began walking out of the restaurant, texting my dad to say I'm ready when Harvey shouted.

"And like I said, don't worry! You're secrets safe with me" He said with a horrid smirk. His voice had a tone of harshness to it.

The tone of voice he always used to have, plus I didn't trust his words.

He told me I was safe with him that time he practically kidnapped me, and I was not safe. Therefore, neither is the secret.

Luckily my dad turned up pretty fast, meaning I could get away from Harvey and his normal tricks.

Once again I found myself texting Harry telling him again that Harvey knows.

Woah, this all sounds too familiar! We'll talk about it all tomorrow? I'm going bed gorgeous I've been rehearsing all day. Like I said, we'll sort it tomorrow! I love you!xxxxxxxx

I quickly replied telling him I was also tired from being on my feet all night and that we will speak tomorrow. And obviously I said I love him too.

"Well I'm glad it all went okay" My dad said pulling me out from my thoughts as we got out of the car and made our way into the house.

"Yeah! It all went, okay"
