Iris's POV
I laid curled up in a small ball, the metal box that surrounded me was cool against my bruised and battered skin. Thundering footsteps approached my cage and I winced, knowing that this was probably another beating. Their keys jingled as the person unlocked the door. Everyone in the pack had excess to the keys, just in case they wanted to get their anger out on me.
"Up!" The person growled, obviously a male. I gulped but didn't move. He sounded angrier than usual. "I said, GET UP!" he roared, kicking me in the ribs. I cried out and quickly rose, choking as the steel collar around my neck tugged me to the ground. The man picked out a key from the ring and approached me. I wanted to move backwards or fight back, but I was to weak and he would get me anyways.
I clenched my fists and waited, raising my chin in slight defiance. He slid the key into the clasp around my neck, than pulled it off. It clattered on the ground with a loud bang, landing beside the bolt that kept it secured to the floor.
The man scowled at me for a moment, as if deciding something, then grabbed my arm and started to pull me out of the cage and towards the pack house. But I'm not aloud in there! I voiced my concern, but the response a gruff "Shut up."
I clamped my mouth shut, knowing the harsh consequences that would be served if I didn't listen. He led me through the back door and down a dark hall. I glanced around, looking for an escape, but nothing around me could help.
My heart began to flutter nervously as we approached a dark oak door. There was a golden plaque nailed to the wood. 'Alpha Weston' it read. What did I do now?
"Please d-don't kill me." I whispered, my voice cracking. He grunted and pulled harder on my arm, making it burn. We soon stood in front of the door. The only times I've ever met the alpha is when he comes into my cage to beat me. He was the strongest and cruelest of them all. He would tease me with food and freedom and sometimes sexual relief, because yes, I am a teenage girl with needs, although I never really fell for his tricks anymore.
My escort knocked once, twice, three times until someone pulled it open. He immediately marched forward into the room.
My legs started to shake at the sight of the Alpha. His light brown hair was slick back against his skull so I could see his dark brown eyes. This was the first time I noticed a long scar running from behind his right ear, across his jaw, and ending at his chin. He glared at me with pure hatred. I met his eyes for moment, then quickly looked away. I could practically hear him smirk.
"You," he growled. I gulped and trembled in my spot. Even when he was sitting he looked tall and muscular. "You're going to do this pack some good for once."
"What do you mean?" I asked, still avoiding his gaze.
"Do not speak until I tell you to!" He roared, standing and slamming his palms onto his ebony desk.
I flinched and took a small step back. He didn't seem to notice as he lowered himself back down into the cushioned chair. "There has been a problem that we can't fix on our own," he paused, seeming to gather his thoughts. Thats a first, I thought, wishing I could voice my opinion. Usually the pack was strong enough to handle anything.
He continued. "So, we must ask of the wolves help." I almost gasped. The Werecats haven't communicated with the wolves in almost a fifty years. I didn't know why though. "And that's where you come in."
My eyes widened. What would they want with me? I'm the weakest of the pack and I don't know how to negotiate.
He cleared his throat. "We haven't communicated with the wolves in almost fifty years, so if they do prove to be more aggressive than we expected, you will be our sacrifice."
