How will I ever forget the day when I was out with my parents to go shopping like we always do when my Dad give us some "family time" when he has less work to do. I was a stressful kid back then when I found out that Jennie is no longer in the orphanage. I have no one to talk to cause I have no siblings and my parents are always busy with their businesses. My parents were searching inside a flea market were antique things are available that my mom were very excited to go to almost every week. I was physically present with them but mentally absent tip-toeing here and there when I felt that we will stop because of thinking about Jennie.
My trance ends when I heard a very familiar shout of a man. My eyes open wide as I saw my dad holding this little dirty skeleton boy who's long hair can hide his eyes that looks like a nylon string stroke by a lightning that was obviously not getting any shampoos for a year on his collar lifting his feet an inch above the ground with a fearful expression obvious on his face. And that scene reminds me of how I met Jennie in the same situation that made me realize how I was always seeing those kind of actions.
My dad's very mad at this little boy that I think the same age as mine but skinnier than me as my father was very angry shouting at him.
Marco: "why are you pick-pocketing you thief!"
Tears started to fall to this kid's eyes as my heart felt like crashing and I felt the sympathy towards the little boy.
Little Boy: "p-please sir.. s-sir I'm just hungry. Please.."
He beg as I saw the sincerity on his voice and eyes.
I slowly breathe out the bravery in me as I remember my school teacher said.
"Be brave when it is needed and when you know in yourself that you have to make it right because no one will do it"
I looked around and saw every audience that my dad made were gossiping with each other and I have no choice but to do the thing that I think was right.
I step like three or four steps to reached my father's shirt and pull it lightly for three times as my mom was trying to pull me out of the scene but I didn't let her. I got my dad's attention and he looked at me as his angry face was slowly calming.
I just nod my head slowly and it hits him at the moment. He looked the boy and me as I saw him slowly putting down the boy without trying to break his regretful eyes off me. And that makes my heart flutters because I know for the first time, my dad listened to me without me saying a word but just staring pleadingly at him.
